Anybody know any good links for this fight ??

Was trying to explain the importance of the fight to a guy in work today and dont think he realised how historic event it actually was.

That fight is such bull****......I hate how people think Duran quit because SRL was doing the Ali shuffle :rofl

Okay, a lighweight who fought until his 50's against the likes of William Joppy and a lightweight who fought against a hard hitter in Barkley in the 168lb division was so scared and quit because some chump ballet danced around doing cheap tricks to dazzle the judges?
    I do not think so.

Never mind what Duran did and who he fought after that incident . . . just tell us why you think he quit on that fight.

I believe Durans explanation, stomach cramps and needing to take a giant ****.
He thought that SRL would give him a rematch straight away exactly like he did after Montreal, since he thought SRL to be a gentleman :patsch Wrong idea.

SRL cowardly declined Durans offer and ran off to the sunset for another 8 years.

I do recall that excuse also,,,but didn't he also quit because of the manner SRL was conducting himself in the ring? Taunting to the extreme.....

Yeah that was his excuse . . . and you believe it?

Bruh . . . Duran's reaction in the ring showed a "very frustrated fighter" not a man who is about to make a giant ****.

SRL taunted Duran just as much in 1989 as he did in 1981 but Duran didn't quit then.

Do you honestly believe a guy who fought over a hundred times in his career, fought until his 50's, fought William Joppy in his late 40's, fought upto the supper middleweight division, fought Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns 20lbs and 25lbs above his starting weight?

You mean to tell me that man, one of the most meanest, toughest, angriest and biggest bad asses boxing has ever seen quit because SRL was dancing about doing the shuffle and waving his arms about?

Seriously? It wasn't even a blow out like how its been revised as by 'historians', SRL was only 2 rounds ahead going into the seventh, it wasn't a domination

I refuse, completley refuse to believe that a man like Roberto Duran would quit under such trivial and ridiculous circumstances. It makes me angry when people type in such nonsense that he quit because of SRL's imbecilic antics
What rot....as if, he was a far harder man than that, far harder.

looks like Duran was closely winning the round. i have no sound though and the camera angle is not so good at times.

I didn't say "I believe him"; I was simply stating what I have heard. We will never know for certain but I do agree that whatever the case is, it was not his character AT ALL to do that

He quit out of embarassment, not fear.
