How come Rahman could never beat Maskaev?

I read the compubox numbers. Rahman was nailing him with the jab. The numbers were big time lopsided. And Rahman was wasting a lot of shots trying to knock him out or at least hurt him. Maybe the numbers were off but judging by the numbers, if Rahman fought a little more conservative, he would have won.

LIKE I SAID! I didn't see the fight entirely, just the last round. I need to see it all.

He survived a war with Corrie Sanders, but lost twice to glass jawed Oleg. Boxing doesn't always make sense.

Oleg won cause he was the better fighter, lightning does not strike twice so it was no fluke.
    He deserves credit here.

Oleg had that right hand timed all fight.

Both guys were on the same level as far as skills were concerned and both had very fragile chins. It just so happens that Rahman got his lucky punch versus Lewis and Maskaev didn't so naturally Hasim gets more acclaim as a pro.

Their second fight was a prety good technical fight though. I saw it as a very even fight with Rahman at times blistering Oleg with the jab, and at other moments, Maskaev scoring very well with combinations in close. Too bad Jay Nady stopped the fight on time because one or two more punches would've sent Rahman crashing through the ropes once again. :yep

Maskaev appears to be his bogey man. For some reason Rahman could never solve him out and seemed to under estimate the power Maskaev carried. Either way it's strange because Rahman was the more skilled and in my opinion, better fighter.

Perhaps, but he had the worse glass jaw - and that was the decider in this fight.

Actually Oleg's chin had more glass.

:rofl Before meeting Wlad, Sanders was nothing more than a journeyman, Oleg was a ranked contender for years.

It was far worse opponent than James Toney, who was also available when his opponent Tony Thompson pulled out.

Toney had just made Rahman quit couple months before

For future reference you probably shouldn't make claims about fights you haven't watched. :good

Both of them were great fights. Both closely contested, back and forth battles. In the end Maskaev was simply the better man. He was ahead in both fights, and just simply got caught.

:patsch Anyone can get caught. If you've ever seen either of those fights you can see clearly that Rahman could take a shot. he simply got caught flush with bombs and he couldn't recover.

LOL, Rahman was ahead on all 3 cards in the first fight. Go look it up.

And he definitely did get careless in a lot of his big fights.

What I'm surprised about is that Maskaev faded so fast.

I'm pretty sure the so-called Russian Mafiya made him take a dive in the Whitaker fight.
