Its more that I don't rate Murray as highly as you do. He is good domestic level fighter nothing more. You don't need sublime boxing skills to beat John Murray. All you need is half decent movement, footwork, speed, power, boxing iq. Mitchell is not a world class fighter but he is well rounded. Like a 7/10 at everything.

Murray's has looked ok/average. He has absolutley no defence. Murray will not be able to take shot after shot after shot even if they are of the back foot. It will slow him down.

If it does end up in a trade off Mitchell wins that to. He is faster. Both have good chins. I think Mitchell is the harder puncher even if he hasn't shown it at Lightweight.

Have never said Kevin is world class, but you don't need to be world class to beat John Murray.

I fancy Murray mate. Just think that break and personal problems over the last year could have an affect on Mitchell...

Seen John training this week and he looks sharp! So we shall see.

    What you reckon on Bellew/McKenzie?

i agree. Does anyone really think either of these are world class? Put either of the them in with Katsidis and he'd smash them up, hes a bigger and better version of Murray who can bang as well (imo murray hasnt got much digg on him) and Mitchell would never be able to keep Kats off him for 12 rounds, well we know that already. Love watching them both though and hope i'm wrong!

Agreed. I would never go as far as saying that a professional boxer hasn't put the hard work in in the gym, because these guys risk their lives to put on a show, but his physique certainly looks like it could lose another 7 lbs.

I don't rate Murray especially highly. He's a euro-type fighter, same as Mitchell. I enjoy watching both fight, but I actually think Murray's more skilled than people give him credit for. I still admire the way he took Lee Mcallister apart with his timing and bodywork. Sure he can be outboxed, but no one has ever managed to do it consistently. He always catches up with them.

Speed is only an advantage on the outside for Kevin. So, yes – if he keeps distance, he can use those fast hands to bust Murray up. But if the fight's in close, Mitchell has very few tools to deal with Murray. He hasn't got much of a body attack, he can't use his uppercut particularly well – really, he prefers to ride out the storm by slipping and sliding along the ropes. So his speed isn't much of an advantage there.

And you need to take the layoff into account too. In his last fight he got battered. Since then he's not looked after himself – so his stamina will suffer later on.

And here's the other thing – if it's not difficult to outbox Murray, why's he still undefeated?

Gotta be Bellew. McKenzie will be looking for that money punch early on, and hopefully Tony will be looking out for it too.

I think Tony will be a bit more controlled and get a stoppage – a legit one this time – around the sixth round.

Because he hasn't faced anyone paticular good. same as kevin before he stepped up in class.

the layoff is the only factor of doubt in my mind.

and watch the weigh in. mitchell is the bigger man.

I'll have a look at it when I'm out of the office. We'll know who the bigger man is when they step in the ring tomorrow night. Rehydrating can do crazy things – Mitchell might stay at or around his current weight (especially if he's added muscle), Murray could really bulk up. All interesting stuff.

I wish Gavin would get himself down to 10 stone or even light weight. He does not in anyway resemble the outstanding athlete that he is.
