This is irrelevant. I'm talking about the power Wladimir possesses but often doesn't use early on due to his safety first style.
Well he did sit down on his shots and did target practice on Lamon Brewster and literally got tired from punching him as hard as he could, watch the fight, Wlads lucky he came at just the perfect time when david haye is considered the cream of the crop because soon as the going gets tough wlad literally just quits in the ring except for the 1 time against sam peter where he deserves credit the other 3 times hes been taken out of his comfort zone he turned into a fish flapping out of water
Wlad is no great fighter, and that's evident throughout his history of fights. I'm just saying that Wladimir has underrated power. He hits like a truck. I think he hits harder than Tyson per one shot. He lacks early knockout victories because of his cagey, defensive style.
Well your safety first argument doesn't really hold water up against the two examples I gave because fact is Wladimir did hit Rahman with several power punches throughout the fight in attempt to finish him off and it still took Klitschko quite a while to do so. In fact, it wasn't even a proper KO as the referee had to step in and stop the fight because Hasim was a little wobbly legged, but he wasn't quite knocked out in the traditional sense. And how many power punches did it take Lewis to KO Rahman? Oh yeah, just one. You argument doesn't stand up to my other example either because this was Wladimir BEFORE he got destroyed by Corrie Sanders and at that time Wladimir was still a come forward fighter with an attacking style and even then he couldn't stop Botha as quickly as Lewis or Tyson did. And given those two examples I don't really see a valuable argument as to why you think Wlad hits harder than Lewis. Another example I can give you is Ray Mercer who when asked after the fight if Klitschko hit harder than Lewis he very plainly responded , "No."
I've always said Lennox & Wladimir have similar power in their right hands. To claim otherwise is like splitting hairs. Wlad's left hook is more powerful than Lennox's but Lewis has the more powerful uppcut by far.
Check Wlad's 1 punch KO's of Chambers, Thompson & Brock. All have good chins too.............................
:bart Clubber Lang hit harder. Rocky was sparked by Clubber in just two rounds while Drago hit Balboa with everything but the kitchen sink and still couldn't knock him out.
His power is vastly underrated...but I'm still not sure about top 5 all time. :think It's too bad there isn't a reliable scientic metric for this (preferably one that had been in use with consistent standards dating back to the start of the gloved era, and utilized by all the champs and notable contenders).
It could be argued Wladimir is more seasoned fighter with better technique since his losses. Freddie Roach said Wladimir hit harder than Tyson. Also Steward has said in the past Wladimir packed more power than Lewis. Tyson hit hard but people are forgetting he was an explosive puncher that unloaded every shot with venom. Tyson was never really a one punch KO artist. I still think Wladimir hits as hard as Tyson and Lewis, maybe even harder per one shot.
Would have been great if they carried out tests on murderous punchers over the years. I think some would be surprised how hard Julian Jackson hit compared to even HW's. Just a shame were never know..
