I think you are missing the point. It is because Gavin is such a precious talent that people are even more frustrated with the fact that he is boxing above the weight he should be at. While I agree with your sentiments that some fighters are just naturally not ripped/have extra body fat (though not in the cases of alvarez or groves) it is still important that boxers fight at a weight that they fit into. Gavin would be an small to average sized light welter but a tiny Welterweight. Why hinder such magnificent skills and ability by fighting half a stone heavier?

That doesn't mean he couldn't be in better shape..

Plenty of natural talent has gone to waste before.

So what is ridiculous in a boxer operating between 2 weight classes to see where the best opportunity's come:think it must of never been done before :think Obviously a boxer has to be dedicated i agree for the sake of there health, but who has said Frankie is not dedicated ? Yes he will face bigger stronger fighters at 147lb granted, but i am also sure that Manny Paquiao has done that most of his career and has done pretty well:good Plus many other fighter's.

Looking at this picture it is difficult to believe that he couldn't make the contracted weight.

Not sure what Frankie is playing at but he needs to get himself sorted as he needs to be down at 140 to operate at world level.

I agree with a couple of the points that MIK1000 & ANT-MAN have just made but the problem being especially in this country that boxer's always feel that they have to boil down to there minimum weight to be most affective, well has history as shown with a couple of example's, Macklin at light-middle, and Jamie Moore at light-middle not always the best option. Also this is the W.B.O. WELTERWEIGHT TITLE which is 147lb's, did you all want Frankie to come in at 140lb's to prove he's in shape ? We will have to put that new rule to the B.B.B.C. Let's fight for the welterweight title but we feel better weighing in at 155lb's. Don't think it will work some how do you ?

haha i wasnt refering to boxing talent calm down, Just in terms of physique. There no doubting frankies talent but do you think hes got the size/power to operate at world level at this weight? i think he'd be dwarfed at this weight and i dont think hes got enough pop to keep off the top level fighters

Frankie is bigger than you would think, no he is not a Welterweight naturally yet but will mature into one, his power is increasing all the time, what he does have is a amazing natural talent, footwork and boxing brain which would allow him to operate at world level at either 140 or 147lb's. And a massive chance should be next at 140lb's for him so everyone will be happy to see him back down at 140 so they can relax:thumbsup

yes i know, that's because Frankie feel's great at 144-145lb's but have you ever thought that Woodhouse is a lot smaller than Frankie and it could be a game plan:think

Ok.....so you agree Frankie should be at 140. Because he has said this week he will never fight at 140 again. The reason the weight for the fight moved up is because he couldn't make the agreed 144 catch weight.

What would concern me, is that Gavin doesn't seem that big of a puncher, but at a higher weight, where people are coming down from a higher! weight, meaning they take a better punch, it could be an issue, then again his skills might do the talking, that said, its something to keep in mind.

So world class prospect Frankie Gavin needs to play game and change stipulations a week out from the fight to have an advantage agaisnt a fighter like woodhouse. doesn't say allot about him.
