You are wrong - a great jab is more than just sticking out your arm as Mongoose says - especially so when you are the guy with the shorter reach. In Wladimir's case, it helps him that he is taller than most opponents, but his footwork is really underrated. It is remarkable for such a tall guy - he could probably be a snappy dancer as well :yep

Well, Haye sidestepped that left a lot with vertical movement, but all the same the jab was important to the fight. It's not just a matter of sticking it out, though, as Steward pointed out it's a sophisticated punch that Wladimir throws with a lot of variation (on rythm, off rythm, double, single, sometimes hook etc.). I never realised that Wladimir had reasonably short arms for his height, it makes the way he controls fights more impressive - I guess the way he leans back, jumps away from punches but then comes forward into range quickly has a lot to do with it.

No, that's not what happened, it happened in that picture, but overall Wlad sticking his left out as a range finder worked and stopped Haye from attacking.

Wlad and Haye's hands are almost at the same level, but the top of Wlad's arm is a lot higher.

No, I have never boxed in an amateur or professional atmosphere. Don't know how that's relevant considering there are people that haven't boxed and know more than people that have.

 

Klits hardcore fans and Lewis's hardcore fans are really overrating their fighters. These guys are alot closer in ability than they are stating. Fights with each other at different ages and primes would produce lots of different results.

 

There's no way Wlad has greater reach/power than Lewis.

Lewis would have killed David Haye. He'd have ended him.

 

Or he could've been lying on the canvas (ala Lewis v. Rahman I).
