Could Young's underrated power -- combined with a sledgehammer -- overcome Valuev's granite chin reinforced by Tyson's 3" shock-absorbing platform shoes?

Platforms would give you worse balance. I see a quick stab of the handle of the sledgehammer from Young knocking Valuev back on to his heels and toppling the giant for a 20 second KO.

    That is a plausible outcome.

    Bull**** is it!

Valuev wears him down and stops him thanks to his platform shoes being able to absorb any sledgehammer blow known to man.

    :patsch

This isn't some clinch-happy journeyman who should have lost to Holyfield three times. This is JIMMY. EFFIN'. YOUNG.

Valuev's cranium might -- MIGHT! -- withstand Jimmy's sledgehammer blows if Valuev wears Tyson's special platform shoes, but NOBODY shakes off Young's underrated power. Not Norton, not Foreman, not Ali. (Except for Ali and Norton). Unless the shoes had an air bubble and massaging gel insoles, it would be touch and go for a while.

I dunno. The 3inch soles seem passable, whereas the sledgehammer seems excessive. You'd never get away with it in the ring. Not like how Tyson did it in virtually all of his professional fights, only to now call his entire career into question. :blood

True. Niko's got two 50 cals, one on each shoulder. He bought his wife tickets to the gun show... by reading her his poetry. (sigh) He's the greatest.

The correct answer to this question is that Dempsey ducked Harry Wills.

If Valuev can stick and move (in platform shoes), he'd outbox the sledgehammer Young, considering he'd find it hard to put his head in between the ropes to evade Valuev's jab

In all seriousness, if Valuev and Young fought while both were at the respective peaks, Young would have won an easy UD.

Well, if the fight took place in Italy, then Young for sure. But if they were in Germany...
