Hey guys, reasonably new poster here and prolly don't have enough "cred" to post legitimately in the classics yet but here's a fight I've been mulling over for a while.

Obviously by my AV, I'm partial to Wink's defense and jab but I must say "Terrible" Terry Norris might just be the most gifted offensive fighter I've ever seen. The combination of hand speed and power was ludicrous.

I think Wink's timing with his jab would frustrate Terry in between Terry attempting to blast away at Wink's arms with combos. Leading to an eventual decision where Terry faces a few shaky moments.

So what say you guys? If this fight happens who walks away with Jr. Middleweight supremacy?

    :hat:hi:

In the end I don't know if Winky has the power to truly stun Norris and that's what it would take. he might give him a little trouble with his awkwardness and jab but Norris would probably swarm him with his power and speed and offensive ability like you said. I say Norris. But I don't know if Norris stops him either. He probably takes a decision.

Norris would have beaten Winky by a clear margin.

Norris clearly, probably a UD but I wouldn't rule out a stoppage win

Norris is a bad style match-up for Winky. Norris takes this comfortably. You have to be proactive to beat Norris and not reactive like Winky was. Norris was also very difficult to outbox and Winky doesn't have that game-changer. Norris out hustles him as Winky would be forced to wait until Norris stopped punching. Norris has too much activity, dynamism and speed for the Winkster.

Norris by UD. Too fast, too strong.

I think winky is in the top 5 h2h at lmw.

His style is awesome and I think he actually schools norris. Winning every round close but clear.

He arguably didn't lose until hopkins. Having a great jab and fantastic timing will be enough to control the terrible one.

Aside from hearns there isn't a lmw that would warrant the term "upset" if winky defeats them.

I see a close, interesting decison; Norris throwing tons of punches, Wright being Wright (too cautious, not being aggressive enough) and letting opportunities slip away, while frustrating Norris enough and countering just enough to keep it close.

Norris wins a controversial but probably well-deserved decision.

He did lose to Vasquez and I haven't watched his fights versus Harry Simon and Fernando Vargas yet.
However , I don't rule out his chances vs Terry Norris and no way Norris stops him.
And having watched Laurent Boudoani KO of Vasquez , I don't think Hearns had anything nearly as impressive @ 154 or above. Duran @ 154 was no Vasquez.

Although Winky lost emphatically against Vasquez, I agree with this. I have no idea why Winky is being spoken of as if he was Joshua Clottey on this thread. Winky was always very busy, very active, and very aggressive. He'd walk forward, blocking Norris's combinations early, walking him down with the jab and as the fight wore on, would land a lot more shots of his own. I'd back a discouraged Norris to lose the last third of the fight, and Winky to take a close but clear UD.

I don`t think Winky gets wnough respect in here. He was a evry effective southpaw, with an excellent jab, tight defense and busy hands. You could make the case that when he went on his run, he was damn near unbeatable... He beat Vargas (desoite what the score said) and the fight he lost to Hopkins he shouldn`t have taken anyway. Its a tough, very close fight that could possibily go either way. Norris could not hurt him, winky has a great chin and it held up against bangers. His jab and ring savvy would give Norris lots of problems. So this fight goes two ways,Norris speed and combinations help him to outhustle Winky. Or ... winky`s bab tight hands up defense and busy southpaw stance frustrate Norris and he outworks Norris for a close decision victory. Ther is zero chance of KO in this fight, Norris has a bad one, but Winky was never a banger...

Good stuff guys, keep it coming.

Personally I've always thought of Wink as a walking tank of sorts, defensively sound enough to nullify all you throw, all the while timing you with jabs and straights and pushing your back with his feet.

I don't rule out the possibility of Wink getting to Terry with a shot either, he won't KO him but he had enough power to sting, Wink had enough power to hurt Mosley/Trinidad (albeit in an attrition sense) and Stagger Quartey, chances although slim, are available with Terry not having the sturdiest chin.

I think how much Terry chooses to use his legs here plays a big part into the outcome.
