1990 Evander Holyfield 1991 Vacant * 1992 Riddick Bowe 1993 Evander Holyfield 1994 George Foreman 1995 Lennox Lewis 1996 Evander Holyfield 1997 Lennox Lewis 1998 Lennox Lewis 1999 Lennox Lewis * I left this vacant as their were no obvious ones for this year. Holyfield's workmanlike performance over Foreman and his close shave with Bert Cooper were nothing to write home about.
Kally's list: 1990 Evander Holyfield 1991 Mike Tyson 1992 Riddick Bowe 1993 Evander Holyfield 1994 George Foreman 1995 Riddick Bowe 1996 Evander Holyfield 1997 Evander Holyfield 1998 Lennox Lewis 1999 Lennox Lewis
Yeah, I'd agreed with that list 100%. Even though Tyson didn't look impressive against Ruddock (IMO) in 1991, he overtakes undisputed champion Holyfield because of Holyfield's Bert Cooper scare and because Ruddock was ranked higher than Foreman too. :good
Hmmmmm 96. Was tyson's rise to the top better than holyfield's upset victory? I think an argument could be made.
Same as mine Tyson deserves 1991 due to the Ruddock fight. Ruddock was highly regarded at the time, higher than Foreman and Lewis. Holyfield wasnt that highly regard either
At the moment mine only contains three names. Clue - One of them's retired, and the other two........erm.......keep it in the family.
The best fighter that Tyson beat since coming out of jail was Frank Bruno. A man whose number Tyson already had. So,yes,Holyfield's victory was better, imo.
thats the list that i agree with and it shows that holy was a better fighter than lewis and is higher in the all times stakes
90 - Buster 91 - Tyson 92 - Bowe 93 - Evander 94 - McCall 95 - Bowe 96 - Evander 97, 98, 99 - Lennox I think in poor years, Buster and McCall have by some margin the most impressive wins (based on best win by a HW, ignoring Big George's age and the associated history...simply put knocking the sense out of Lewis impresses me more from a heavy than a stoppage of Moorer. )
