IF AA and JT are coming back and anywhere close to peak form, Sergio's time at 160 is over, he might as well go back down to 154 and try to make a fight with Canelo, Lara, and the co.
Of course AA wanted to fight the best, but his management should have known better. And, yes, he showed class in sticking it out in the tournament, unlike certain other fighters.
If AA really does go back to Middleweight, I think he will be the Champion again in a year and a half or so.
Super Six might've killed his marketability. These guys exposed him BAD. Dirrell, Ward and Froch have proven to be ridiculously skilled though - hardly anyone could have anticipated that beforehand so the blame is not on AA's management.
Im glad that Abraham is back at 160, his best weight imo, but I hope he can make th weight right, I remember him having some weight problems during his last few fights at middleweight.
This wasn't hard to figure out. I told people the blue print long ago. Problem was AA was sitting on his belt in Germany against some weak competition that was forced to bring the fight to him if they had ANY chance of getting a W. Once he entered the tourney he faced stiffer competition and some taller guys that weren't cans. AA is DONE at MW. He ate his way out of that a long time ago. I just don't see him being effective going back down in weight since he wasn't really that effective before. The top level guys aren't going to play his game and walk into something. Yeah, he has power but very little skill in delivering that shot without a lot of help from his opponent.
The crazy thing is that the S-6 was Sauerland's idea. It was his concept, he sold the idea to Showtime, and was instrumental in choosing the original 6 participants. When they put the American side together, Sauerland was in New York under the guise of negotiating Pavlik/Abraham. He demanded an unconditional $2 million dollar guarantee for Arthur, walked away, and then proceeded to assist with putting together the American part of the S-6. The European side was already done which means AA was already included. The "negotiations" for a Pavlik/Abraham fight were just smoke and mirrors intended to hide his real activities. (Remember, we knew nothing about the S-6 at that time.) Sauerland intended to use the S-6 to showcase Abraham and Kessler. Mikkel went 1-1 and then dropped out due to his eye problems. Abraham got his ass whooped twice going 1-2 in tourney fights. Now Abraham says he wants to drop back to 160, but I don't think it will help him. As long as he fights guys like Elvin Ayala and LuJaun Simon he'll look good. When he steps up to "B" level, he'll get his ass kicked again.
