The fight was very boring but at least he went back to what he can do and used some skills instead of just trying to blast oville out and letting him into the fight. In fairness I did see a bbc interview with Bellew where he did say he was going to box oville.....

"I'm not going in there looking for a knock-out, making bold statements or accusations. I'm going to box him and use my brain. I'm going to do a job on him".

However there is no way that performance or bellews current resume should be rewarded with a shot at a world title, if he does get a shot at Cleverly I think Clev takes him out in the first 4 rounds.

P.s that screaming thing he was doing at the end of the fight was pretty cringeworthy.

He has a chance against Cleverly but he's going to have to step up to the mark a little more in that fight or Cleverly will overwhelm him with his volume. Cleverly can be stunned, and has been, and he is particularly open. You can't throw punches without being vulnerable, Cleverly believes punching = defence which it can be to some extent if you can overwhelm your man, especially if Bellew fights like that. But ya know, Cleverly doesn't hit very hard at all so I don't see an early stoppage and Bellew would be dangerous.

I'm not sure why McKenzie is considered a gimme stoppage either. He's been stopped twice, once by Bellew himself, once by Dean Francis which could easily have been a freak result in the first round, you wouldn't back that to happen again. He's a tough guy.

Ok I can deal with criticism without a problem if I box like this everytime I fight but we all know that's not true ! Everyone's entitled to an opinion but let me say this! Write me off at your peril is all I'll say.

I learnt a lot last night and showed a completely different side to my boxing!!

Good on you for coming in and post in spite of criticism from many including myself. Like I said I thought your game plan was good upto a point, but it seem you could of put more pressure on mckenzie in the last third of the fight and throw more combinations when you were in control, but you seem to be happy to plod away as how you started the fight.

You got the job done but it wasn't a good spectacle to watch.

I appreciate it wasn't pretty and I wanted to really open up on him at times too! Styles make fights and I will say he's kne of the most awkward guys you could ever wish to fight, he's hard to nail and can punch! He is also a counter puncher so is just waiting for you to make a mistake ;-)

Well, played it safe and got the win. Not my cup of tea to watch, but it would be a different story if I were the one in the ring - get out with the win. Look at the **** Wlad Klitschko takes, but the bottom line is, he's the best heavyweight in the game... snoozefest's or not, he gets the job done every time... you only have to look back to what happened to him earlier in his career when he fought recklessly, and people still give him **** for that. Sometimes, a fighter just can't win in the eyes of the fans...

Tony - you do what you've got to do!

Btw well done for the win. I respect all boxers who gets in the ring and fight.

Probably 99% of people here, myself included have never got in the ring or done a sparring session so we are in most respect, ever so easy to criticise boxers when we dont know how tough it is in the ring when someone else is throwing punches to your face and body. Yes mckenzie is awkward and is dangerous with his punch power as we have seen in the last fight, you were right to play it safe and not risk getting hit by big punches. I was just disappointed that there wasn't any spark in this fight, probably due to the last meeting where you were great in terms of getting off the floor twice and came back knock him down and won.

Your jabs were ok in the fight, would like you see you improve on that as we know a good solid effective jab is a great weapon.

I actually thought Bellew's jab was better in this fight and more of a weapon than it has been in any of his fights. Only problem was he seemed to focus all out on it and forgot the other things he has hidden in the locker. There is a balance to be struck somewhere.

That what I feel the first fight we saw too much of the reckless Tony this one probably to conservative and concerned with thinking about his boxing.
