Onourway - Cut the man some ****ing slack, I don't know why he posts on here with ****s like you about...... It was a dull fight, but he won the fight convincingly as was expected of him. Shame more combo's weren't thrown but with a big fight looming, I can understand the reasoning..... :good
I can't believe Tony puts up with some of the shite on here that gets posted. Somebody on the first page of this thread said Clev would beat him inside 3 rounds.. what a load of bollocks. I'd fancy Clev to win over 12 rounds but he doesn't punch hard enough to stop anybody above domestic level, fact. Everybody got carried away when he stopped a decent super-middle in Murat. :rasta
Tony gets it alright here IMO. He has his arse lickers, his neutrals who like him but will post constructive criticism & his haters, who will slag him off to get a reaction. A mixed bag really, no big deal.
Murat is a blown up supermiddleweight, and Clev stopped him with an accumulation of huge shots. I'm yet to be convinced Clev is a big puncher, if anything his lack of power is his biggest weakness.
Cleverly isn't a big puncher, but he doesn't need to be one to stop Bellew. Cleverly is a classy operator.
Bellew has been down but I've never seen him badly hurt, and let's be honest, he would be much sharper against Clev than against somebody like McKenzie. Yes, I think Clev would beat Bellew, but for somebody to say he'd stop him in 3 is bizarre.
Why is it so bizarre? Bellew has been down in the early rounds against much softer punchers than Cleverly. And the second knockdown in the first McKenzie fight was no flash knockdown, his legs went.
He showed us good skills in there, didn't set the place on fire but then again he can't do it every night and he proved that he can box for 12 sounds. I say 1 more fight on the September bill, knock the opponent out in style and we get the mouth watering for a Cleverly vs Bellew showdown!
It was a massive shot but it didn't do any lasting damage, and that right hand McKenzie landed was a perfect punch and generated more power than anything Clev could throw. Clev vs Bellew would be a good fight and I think it would be much closer than people think.
I thought he did OK,He got the win which is what really matters but I think Clev looks the better of the 2 for now.I do think Bellew could step it up if he got the Clev fight though,it would be a decent match.
My opinion counts for very little but McKenzie was treated with far more respect than he deserved. Big puncher perhaps but he was there for the taking in the latter rounds so some sort of attempt to do so would have been nice!! That said, I'm sensible enough to realise why you wouldn't want to. Clev awaits and no matter how you see it going on the night you just know this is going to be fun.
