IDK , I tend to think Fergusson will have the somewhat better chance of pulling an unconvincing decision win (convincing like Kalambay's over McCallum ) , just based on their records but I consider Puritty the more formidable fighter despite being less able of pulling those unconvincing points wins. But isn't McCall the Journeyman champion of the world ? or is he just the bum champion of the world ? What's your stance about McCline and Cooper ?
Ferguson was the better overall fighter early on.. Had amatuer background and was actually groomed as a prospect early on.. Different path he went from Hot prospect to fringe Contender to Journeyman. Purritty was more of a guy who learned on the job. He was matched tough early on and didnt become dangerous until getting beat up numerous times. His path Novice 4 round fighter,Opponent (record Padder,Tough journeyman to gatekeeper. Purrity reminds me of the kid who got picked on and beat up so many times when they younger and eventually became a tough kid who ended up beating up on some bullies.
Yeah he had some good boxing skills and punch variety in his youth. I watched his fight again with Mike Tyson yesterday an was doing very well when he got room and started to boxing from the outside, using a sharp jab and right hand. Even on the inside he was doing well till Tyson wrecked his nose with that uppercut in the fifth.
Another good fight of his (although Losing) was his fight with a young Carl Williams...Ferguson dropped him twice before being stopped late.. Good fight between 2 prospects/Young contenders who already had world class skills.
