    It was a damn good fight though, and it's easy to understand why folks could choose either fighter and also why this is a timeless debate.

    Hagler got caught up in landing body shots while Leonard landed the head shots. Remember the double left hook to the body and head. Leonard was in control of the fight after that.

    You've got to beat the champion to win the belt, not win the crowd to win the belt. Leonards little flurries had the crowd going nuts & definately won the judges over. I thought Hagler landed the better shots & was the aggressor throughout the fight while Leonard did a lot of miles on his boots every round. Close at the end though but Hagler edged it imo.

    Seriously, Hagler looked like ****. This is one of the greatest wins in boxing history. Five year lay off, moving up in weight, no tune up and he takes on the MW king. Leonard was supposed to be KOed.

    Leonard fought a beautiful fight. Yes, he did run at times but you don't win fights by just running and pitty patting for the last 30 seconds. He picked his spots well and was just way too fast for Hagler. Maybe prime Hagler takes him out but this version of Hagler lost to Leonard. I think most telling was the power behind Leonard's punches. They were not only flashy and fast but hard, shots.
