Alexander Povetkin (21-0, 15 KOs) and Ruslan Chagaev (27-1-1, 17 KOs) will clash for the vacant WBA Heavyweight Title at the Messehalle in Erfurt, Germany on August 27.

This WBA **** is pathetic, but the winner of the fight would be the most legit challenger for the champ.

I'd rather see Wlad vs. Povetkin.

I'd also like to see the IBF buy the WBA/WBC/WBO/IBA/IBO and fire everyone, and burn the entire business model.

Will Atlas be in Povetkin's corner?

The "new" WBA title means nothing as everyone already knows who the real champion is.

I love how Sauerland is saying how Povetkin wasn't "feeling fell" before and couldn't be bothered to challenge Wlad and now he's in top condition .. for Chagaev

Atlas won't be training Povetking for "this fight" because he's busy "commentating in the US". That's all we know for now, I have a sneaking suspicion Sauerland wasn't too happy with what Atlas has been saying about Kalle Sauerland and the Sauerland slave contracts and they probably told Povetkin to stay away from Atlas if he wants to fight for a belt.

especially seeing that chagaev , after that ass kicking he got vs wlad...has certainly earned the right to fight for this vacant title, with a GREAT 12 round win over kali meehan and an 8 rd win vs travis walker....doesnt take much to get a return shot these days does it?

Valuev refuses to fight Chagev and refuses to fight Wlad. What´s now with his Hepatitis?

Sauerland is a piece of ****.

The real Champ is Wlad, who have to beat the Champ to become Champion. Povetkin refuses to fight Wlad.

Only Chagaev have my respect for fighting Wlad in 2009. So i hope he will win the fight, but it will be very difficult because of Sauerland.

Yes, the winner will be merely another contender.

There is no title on the line, merely a chance to get the interest of Vitali or Wlad.

Wlad is WBA Super Champion. This is for the "regular" title which the winner will be nothing more than a Contender. In some Divisions the WBA also has an "Interim" Champion. :rofl:patsch

THe term champion, means the best, as in, ONE whom is the best.

I think most boxing fans refuse to recognize any regular champion.

I hope Povetkin wins, though, and he meant it when he recently said he was tired of waiting and wanted Wlad.
