Would Ricky even sell your living room out? He has been shown to be a bit of a ticket selling flop so far although I blame ******'s choice of opponent and the choice of using the Braehead arena as the venue rather than Ricky himself for the main part.

The Braehead is too big and too far out of town to sell out with the pathetic opposition Burns has faced so far.

 

p.s Alex Arthur is pretty much as worthy for a crack as Nicky Cook in my opinion. The fight would generate more interest in Scotland aswell.

 

There's more chance of Evander Holyfield reclaiming the Heavyweight title as there is of Arthur making Super featherweight again. He will struggle to make lightweight and so if the fight was to take place it would be up there and not for Ricky's title. Ricky most likely won't move up for another year or so and by then Arthur will be even more past it. For these reasons, I don't think a potential rematch between the two is even worth talking about.

I'll tell you right now, Scott would brutalise Arthur, IMO the real reason Alex left Peter Harrison, didnt want to spar anymore or be put through the training regimen of a real champion.

 

well Arthur was on Ringside claiming it near life threatening trying to make 130. He was in the rags a few weeks ago saying he'd fight Burns provided he'd move up to 135.

ALEX ARTHUR last night furiously hit back at world champion Ricky Burns for claiming he's a traitor.
Burns lashed out at his fellow Scot in the wake of his WBO super-featherweight title victory over Nicky Cook.
He claimed former champ Arthur was supporting the Englishman and ripped into him for a lack of patriotism.
Coatbridge ace Burns spoke out after his camp were told Arthur had made a sickening slit-throat gesture before the fight on Saturday night.
But the 33-year-old - who was at the Liverpool bout as a pundit for Sky - insists that's total rubbish.
The Edinburgh fighter beat Burns in 2006 on his own rise to the top of the world before losing the WBO belt to Cook two years later.
And he came out fighting last night in a bid to clear his name.
He said: "It's outrageous. I vehemently deny I have done anything wrong.
"I love Scotland and won gold for the country at the Commonwealth Games. I'm a passionate Scot and wouldn't do anything against anyone from Scotland. I was delighted Ricky won.
"I have been accused of making a slit-throat gesture and shouting 'kill him'. But that slit-throat gesture is awful - I absolutely despise it.
"Ricky's trainer Billy Nelson knows that. I hate fighters who have done that.
"I was working for Sky and the cameras could have been filming me. Nobody else in the arena saw me make a gesture.
"Why would I be urging the Englishman to win it? It doesn't make sense. I am angry about this."
Arthur's furious denial was backed up by his brother Mark, who was sitting next to him at the Echo Arena.
He said: "I was by Alex's side and know he didn't do anything wrong.
"I really can't understand why anyone would make this sort of thing up. Alex can get passionate but I know 100 per cent that he didn't support the other man."
Arthur was astonished to learn about Burns' accusations after the champion actually shook his hand following the first-round win over Cook.
There was also no hostility when he met Ricky's manager Alex Morrison and his daughter Christine.
Arthur said: "I'm really disappointed because after the fight had finished Ricky shook my hand. Alex also came over to talk and so did his daughter.
"I had a lovely chat with her and she gave me a hug.
"If Ricky accused me why did he shake my hand after his ringside interview? Why did the manager's daughter come for a chat with me? It is ridiculous.
"This is about trying to make me look bad but I am not going to rise to it.
"I don't know what on earth they are trying to do or what they are trying to achieve by saying this."
