For the record I picked Tarver to win in this one (over in Kirk's thread, with only one other person, Lufcrazy), I'm pretty pumped he got the tko, and just happy he can compete successfully at a decent level still
I think Green went for it and emptied the tank in round 7. I thought he was going to turn the fight and dominate the rest but it appears that's all he had left.
At least Milkdud brought joy to somebody's life today.... I remember a time when I had 1000 vcash..... :-(
I reckon he will go to heavy..but he should stay trim and muscular..not the slow, tubby incarnation he was against Aguilera. Just put on about 7-8 pounds and try to cash out against the biggest name he can.
Mother ****er!!!!!!!! I ****in got wasted last nite and woke up at 3 hours ago and completely forgt about this fight. **** **** **** I really wnted to see it and was hoping Tarver would end this Green hype train and he did it better then I ever could have imagined. I thought Flores was gonna be able to do it but I guess he's not that class of fighter that even and aging Tarver is. Stick to the FNF studio BJ. Great win for Tarver and how good did he really look? Was it more Green just sucking or did Tarver show he could still give a good fight to the top Cruiserweights? Or Both? **** cant wait til this is on youtube I need to see it.
I'm not shocked Tarver won, though I was pretty skeptical he had enough to take it in Australia, going down in weight and bet on Green...I am shocked he didn't need to take it on the cards though. What, like, with an IBO/WBF unification bout or something? :blood
Mainly Tarver being too good and rolling back the years but I thought Green was going to be better than that, he used to be a badass at supermid (aside from being clowned by Mundine) but hes kind of stagnated a bit with this Dannyweight nonsense, but long story short Tarver is the man he was too skilled and Green isnt a proper cruiserweight
Tarver looked ok...His stamina wasn't tested because he had Green under wraps for most of the fight..But in the one round Green won clearly, he did look a bit tired. Didn't look particularly quick but not as slow as his last fight...Just his usual relaxed and patient self...Green didn't have the workrate or know how to turn relaxed and patient into negative and hesitant. Green was never really in it...He ain't young either but more had to do with he just doesn't have the skills and ability. Bit small for the weight to. Anyone who lets Tarver fight at that pace and at that range is going to make it a long night for themselves..but a lot of the players at the top of cruiser have pretty good work ethics. Green wasn't a true force in the division..so its hard to tell where Tarver will end up...for the record most of the champs are pretty pedestrian from what I've seen.
I dont know. He is/was a great fighter and always underrated and hated on. If you look at his resume even before he won the title its a good one. From 2000 when he fought Eric Harding the first time til 2007 when he fought Danny Santiago you really cant say he fought a bad fighter in that whole stretch of time. Not all great amazing fighters but all decent fights even RJJ in the third fight was still a solid fighter and wasnt complete shot yet. Eric Harding, Reggie Johnson, Montell Griffen, RJJ, Glen Johnson, Clinton Woods and now Green. Three time Light Heavyweight champ. 4 if you count him picking up the IBF title off of Woods. And except for the first Dawson fight and the B Hop fight he's always been in the fight. The Harding fight he faded bad down the stretch but avenged it. The RJJ fight was very close couldve even went his way. The Johnson fight I think he won but still avenged that. And in the second Dawson fight he made it pretty close and gave Dawson trouble. Tarver really gets underrated because of how much people hated him but now everyone seems to like him since he started commenting on Showtime so hopefully now the Magic Man gets his respect. And a good run at Cruiser would be huge esp at his age. He def has a shot at Diablo so he might be able to pick up the WBC title. Jones and Cunningham I dont see him beating. He might lay a boxing lesson on Huck but Huck might be too much for him. He carries the weight well and could def hang with the slower but stronger guys like Lebdev. I'd love to see him knock out that hype job Kayode.
