By the end of the year, it'll be two years that we've been waiting for this fight. We've dealt with countless rumors, we've been teased several times, but it hasn't happened. It probably won't. Every generation gets its fight. John L. Sullivan vs Gentleman Jim Corbett. Jack Johnson against Jim Jeffries. Jack Dempsey and James Tunney. Louis-Schmeling, Clay-Liston, Ali-Frazier, Hagler-Hearns, De La Hoya-Trinidad and several others across history. Every generation gets its fight, the bout that matches the best of the age... ...the fight that defines the age. The fight that saves boxing. THE FIGHT. Every generation but this one, because we probably won't get Pacquiao-Mayweather... ...but if we do, how much luster is still left? The fight has lost a considerable amount of intrigue, in my opinion, but then again boxing fans are very fickle. If their fights later this year go well for them, interest in Pac-PBF will once again be sky-high.

I've lost some interest as i know for a fact that Pacman has slowed down a tad and isn't at his peak and the same with Mayweather, as he'll be 34 in 2012. So we are not going to see them at their peak. That was in 2009.

Once the fight gets signed it'll be back at 100% or more. Black people all over the country would start wearing Floyd shirts and claim to know everything about boxing. Philipines would probably go down in a massive earthquake from everyone in the country jumping up and down. Mexican will all say "Pinche Mayete (something like that)". :bbb
That fight wouldn't have been as big as Pacquiao-Mayweather would have be a year ago. It would have been big, though, and Riddick would have gotten his ass kicked.
Right now some luster has worn off. But if they perform well in their upcoming fights and this fight is actually signed, sealed, and delivered...then the hype will be full blast once and again. This is still THE FIGHT everyone wants to see.
I'm sick of hearing about it to be honest. I wish it would have happened a couple years back so years didn't go by where 99% of boxing message boards have been utterly cluttered with subjects about just these 2 as though they're the only ones who exist.

With the amount of attention this fight receives in this forum alone, i would have to say that the fight will be just as big as it would have been if it happened last year. Casual fans WILL buy this fight, that's guaranteed, regardless of the marquez&Ortiz fight outcomes.
