    I disagree

All of the following Hopkins opponents, taking what they were when Hopkins faced them, would beat Sturm, and everybody on Sturms resume.

Robert Allen, from Hopkins vs Allen I, and II.
Antwon Echols, Hopkins vs Echols I, and II.
    Howard Eastman,
Segundo Mercado, Hopkins vs Mercado I
    Glen Johnson,
Winky Wright,( I know it wasn't at 160, but Wright was still a middleweight)

Under your criteria, Hopkins opponents are still better, even if you disallow Trinidad. Castillejo was god awful, and Sturm lost to him. You mention Cherifi, but several of Hopkins opponents beat Cherifi also. It doesn't really matter whether the guys were WBO champs or title challengers, look who they fought to get there. If you have average fighters fighting bums and other average fighters, anybody can get a belt. It is how boxing is now days.

lol you're not beating Hard Nard with just a jab. Also, I don't know why you would disallow Trinidad. He would absolutely murder Sturm, and he DID brutalize Joppy. He was a full MW when he fought Hopkins.

It's a matter conveneience that he does that. Funny thing, Failey counts Hopkins, a career MW whom he CLAIMS is a natural LtHW, as one of Joe C's best wins, but tito, who spent a big part of his career at WW, is now too small for Hops. Failey is one of the most predicatable, inconsistent, and hypocritical kids on this board.

It is an excuse used to discredit. Trinidad proved himself at 160 by taking out Joppy in 5 rounds.

You are probably too young to remember, or just aren't familiar with the time frame and boxers. Those are the only two reasons I could think of, that you would try and avoid the point that Joppy at the time was considered to be the second best 160 pounder behind Hopkins. Either that or you are just a hater? Personally Joppy wasn't better than Robert Allen, or Antwon Echols back then, but he was considered to be the second best 160 pounder by many.

What's your point? Joppy's not an ATG, but he's a solid MW with some decent wins and was a titleholder. For the purposes of this discussion, that's all that matters.

I don't consider Joppy great. Joppy at his best was better than Sturm though. As were many of Joppy's opponents.

Stop trying to take the discussion off topic because you don't have a point on the topic, which is Sturm's weak a$$ resume.
