I'd pick the Benn of '88-'91 over Graham and Nunn of that time and over the Jones of '92-'94 too.

Six rounds with Benn at his most aggressive/athletic without a guard is too many rounds to escape, unless you have a Eubank-like chin.

But the post-McClellan Nigel would be obliterated by Jones in 2-3 rounds if he came out frantically.

However, in his '94 fights, Benn darted in and out of range, jabbed, bobbed and weaved, countered lightningly off the ropes, etc. He'd be tricky for Roy's style, that particular Nigel.

The Benn of 1992 clearly got outboxed against Malinga only to get a gift decision, who Jones toyed with and ko'd in 6. Benn hasn't fought in the class of Jones

??? Wow! I see it just the opposite. Benn did not seem to know how to pace himself, or adapt/adjust to a boxer at MW. For my money he was vastly improved at 168!

RJJ certainly has the tools and speed to score a resounding UD, if Benn doesn't catch him one too many times.

If a prime (ko on his mind) Jones shows up.. THen RJ KO 5 in domnating fashion, dropping Benn a few times early and finishing him up a couple rounds later.

If a careful minded safety firstt Jones shows up? Then he wins a wide decision, although Benn has couple moments, but cant quite follow up with on superflash Jones.

:koRJJ would have anihilated Benn and there's really no question about it if we're talking about their primes.

That's very base. Benn struggled to get past the long jab of Malinga both times.

Jones didn't have the jab of Malinga.

(He trained three weeks for Malinga)

Jones would have to be totally focused, he really does not want to get caught with a Benn bomb. So no semi-pro Basketball before the bout!

With that proviso, I think RJJ could break Benn down in eight/nine rounds.

I'm inclined to agree. But in this case he would probably be best served by going out guns blazing. If he tries to pace himself and box for the distance, it's Jones' fight. I think his best (only?) shot is try and surprise Jones, perhaps catch him cold. I don't see that happening since Jones was so measured and composed, but it's probably his only chance.

Even Benn says Jones would have beat him. I agree with him.

    Jones in less than five.

    Easy.

Benn never had the tools to deal with a boxer like Roy. See, ****, any fight of Nigel's that matters.

Two different class of racehorse in there. One, a good aggressive champion, the other, the best fighter of his era, with only one real competitor to that throne.

Roy does what Watson did, sooner.

    Jones KO 3.
