I'm not going to argue that this is a fantastic card, but it's not bad considering it isn't on ppv. I'm sure they could afford to put higher paid fighters on the card, but the UFC would make a much lower profit than they are use to if they did. This card will not be getting several hundred thousand ppv buys at $45 each. This card isn't going to be shown live in the US, so they're not going to make as much from sponsors as they do on a live Spike TV card. Also, Leben and Munoz are close to being top 5, UFC, middleweights. If you exclude Silva, since he is champ, how many fighters can you put above them? Sonnen and Okami are probably the top 2 contenders. Marquardt is gone. Jacare is still with Strikeforce. Who's left? Belfort? Belfort may be better than Leben, but he hasn't done anything in the UFC at middleweight recently. Stann? Stann beat Leben, and can be put ahead, but that's still only 3. Who else is there, Bisping and Maia? Bisping and Munoz would probably make more sense in the UK than Leben and Munoz, but I don't know what Bisping's schedule is. I know that Anderson, Okami, Sonnen, and Stann are all committed to other cards.
Machida is the highest profile fighter off the top of my head who isnt scheduled to fight. Do you think we got a hope of getting him on the card....
:happy:happy:happy This is what I'm pinning my hopes on. Machida vs Franklin or Matyushenko would do nicely as a co main event.
Let's hope he makes a vid trashing Dana, The Ferttitas, Bruce Buffer's dry cleaner and the ring girls, Goldbergs goatee and Joe Silvers Grandmother whilst proclaiming Tito Ortiz as God That'll get him on this card
One thing to bear in mind that this is a late replacement for what was planned to be the UFC's debut in Sweden - so that's why the big British guys aren't around. For example Hardy vs Lytle was originally planned for the October date they had penciled in for the UK. When they thought they weren't going to do a British event they reassigned a lot of the guys we usually see on those cards. I kinda like that as it changes things up but like UFC 95 it does make the show a lot less marketable - I've been proven wrong about this before but I wouldn't expect the current lineup to sellout the NEC at the usual prices. There's also the fact that this will be in a ridiculous run of shows for the group - Fight Night 25 on September 17th (yeah that's going to do well lol), UFC 135 on September 25th, UFC Live on October 1st, UFC 136 on October 8th, UFC 137 on October 29th, UFC 138 on November 5th, UFC 139 on November 19th plus maybe three events in December (Ultimate Finale plus rumors of shows from Canada, Abu Dhabi or Vegas). So while I can definitely see Stoo's point about maybe Machida getting punished by being sent to the UK...they may well need him to co-main or even headline one of the shows later in the year. Plus one of the things you have to remember that fighters can and do turn down fighting in the UK due to the smaller pay days and increased hassle - apparently UFC 105 had nine fighters drop out of its main event before they secured Couture-Vera. Now all that said - I am looking forward to Munoz vs Leben. Should be a good fight and those fighters are of a decent profile - Munoz really should be ahead of Stann in the rankings but he's of course he's nowhere near as marketable and whatever you think of him Leben has been in three consecutive pay per view co-main events and looked great in two of them.
British fans pay for the UFC via ESPN subscription, they attend fights, they fly over to watch fights and its an emerging market. We deserve more than what is probably less than a Fight Night and they aren't on PPV. If they wanted they could put some better fights on and make it PPV in America. Enough would tune in to make up for it having better names and not being on in the evening. $24.95 for a card that airs in the UK from 8 till 11 or 9 til 11. That would be afternoon in America. 6 185 pounders I place above Leben and Munoz are: Silva Sonnen Okami Stann Bisping Belfort If we are talking in all of MMA then Marquardt and Jacare would also enter the mix.

Is that the main event? Good fight but not really worth a main event especially in england. They need a big name even like bj penn to attract more fans. Hope bisping fights someone good. Bisping vs belfort would be nice.
