First of all, I am not trying to disrespect the other top Latin boxing Countries like Mexico, PR, Panama, Argentina and Venezuela. Cuban greats Kid Chocolate, Kid Gavilán, Jose Nápoles and Luis Manuel Rodriguez are ranked the highest of any other Latin Country, ( by group but not individuallly ).

What I am trying to say is that from the list of the best 100 boxers of all times, Cuba has possibly the best four accomplished boxers in the list. This list of course is very debatable but most agree that Chocolate, Gavilán, Nápoles and Rodriguez are in the top 40 of all times. ;)

Cuba used to really shine in Boxing and Baseball as well in a time where there were only about 3 to 4 Million Cubans on the Island. This was a time where there was only 1 World Champ per weight class and not this craziness that we have now in where anyone can pick up a Belt and there are 4 World Champs per weight Class. :-(

These fighters demonstrated that Cuba was a major Powerhouse in Professional Boxing, but everything came to a halt when Castro banned professional sports inside Cuba. :fire

Think about this for a moment, if Cuba had around 8 World Champs before Castro and when they only had about 3 Million people, then how many Cubans would be World Champion today in the pros if Cuba was totally allowed to compete in the pros like the other Latin Countries do? :huh

At the moment, Cuba has almost 3 times the population that it had at that time, and the Cubans have always kept shining after Castro but in the amateurs.

May God Bless all the other Top Boxing Countries as Well !!!

    Opinions?

    :thumbsup

part of the huge amateur sucess may be down to them peaking physically while the guys they're fighting are only starting out in terms of their boxing career,i dont really follow the amateurs too much though tbh but the majority of the guys in the ABAs are really just kids.
it would be interesting to see the result if doors opened up to all these top cubans, the ones that have got through should give some indication.quite a few of them are lazy ****s.

:deal That is what happens when euro-level trainers go and teach their trade abroad. The small island of Cuba dominates because of Eastern European and Russian coaches.
