They don't have to but if they want to be held up as paragons of toughness and fortitude they do. I'm not shitting on Shogun for tapping, he's a helluva fighter regardless of that and he's got the most decorated resume of a 205er to date but it does imply that his fighting spirit is lacking to some degree. Same for GSP, amazing fighter not so amazing mental fortitude. Once again, calling someone Glass Jawed or Glass Hearted isn't an insult but merely a critique, no more damning than realizing that a guy is feather fisted, slow, sloppy, etc. It's merely another intangible quality that must be taken into consideration when picking fights.
So Castillo has a glass heart? Look at how much damage Shogun had already taken in that fight. GSP hasn't taken that much damage in his entire career.
:rofl You come on here proclaiming your superior intelligence, insight and originality and you been found lacking in all of them You critices a fighters heart when you've been found lacking in that too PATHETIC! Stick to the coal jokes my friend, even though it's your go to move to try and deflect from how pathetic you are :rofl For the sake of the thread, we are DONE!
Seriously Rek, dont bother, this was a decent discussion board until he turned up, now let's try to keep it that way
No, I'm not, I'm pointing out that he might lack the heart to face an adverse situation. And as for GSP? Yes. He tapped to an armbar with one second remaining, he tapped to strikes against Serra, and he wanted out because of his scratched eye against Shields. He's a great fighter and he'll continue to be extremely successful because of his tremendous skillset but he's a frontrunner, plain and simple.
Who has been the only one who has proven his points about the mechanics and techniques of fighting? Me. Who has continuously ran circles around you in debates? Me. Who comes up with such bombshells as "you have no heart because you quit BJJ after being seriously ill"? You, the coal miner.
Stop being rediculous. This is a sport, they are tough as they need to be but not to the point of stupidity where they take risks to shorten their career. If it is a war and being a soldier where in some cases do or die can make a difference in a battle then I can understand. Just getting your ass whooped further to put on a facade of you being a badass will just end up making you a dumbass instead. When the outcome is certain, why take some extra beating for the sake of some fans who doesn't give a crap for your health, career or future.
Rampage is a year older than me. That dude's been around a minute. Remember watching him back in PRIDE when he was in his early 20's. Physically he was a beast. Incredibly strong. I still don't know how he makes 205.
1st I saw of him was the 2003 GP, think I saw that for the 1st time before he joined the UFC. But until the Eastman fight watched most of his career retrospectively. But him and Nog always surprise me when their age comes up Pre Fight. Both guys been round the block its fair to say The guy must be killing himself in the steam room too make LHW, he's a SOLID 220+ ish, If I had to guess
Pretty much most of the fighters in PRIDE have been around the block.Im more surprised that Rampage continued to have even better success despite those two severe beatings from Wand.
I think he's got a skull like a T - Rex, I counted 11 knee's the 1st time, God knows how many in the 2nd
