OR BABY JAY PENN:thumbsup bj should have won 2 of the 3 rounds vs fitch.

Round 2 was close but bj was outworking him until the last couple of minutes.

Fitch is good no doubt but the prodigy is up there with him.

Maybe but the third round was an easy 10-8. Main Event again? Hello 5 round fight.

I don't subscribe to this theory that Fitch is like GSP's underboss, far and away the second best in the division. I don't see it, and I really don't understand why this theory is so popular now. To me, Fitch is just one of the top welters, same as Jake Shields, Josh Koscheck, Carlos Condit, Jake Ellenberger, BJ Penn, I don't see why Fitch gets elevated above everyone else.

Since he got dominated by GSP (Shields gave GSP a better fight), who has he beaten to prove he's better than all the other guys???

Gono (5ft 7, coming off a loss to Dan Hardy), Thiago (has lost his last 2 to Sanchez and Kampmann), Pierce (hasn't beaten any top 10 fighters ever), Saunders (had been KO'd by Mike ****ing Swick not long before, lost to Dennis Hallman and got cut not long after) - none of these four wins amount to much, winning these fights certainly doesn't elevate a guy above all other welterweights.

Then another decision win over Alves, a feat recently replicated by Rick Story who went on to lose to Charlie Brennerman, and a draw with BJ Penn that many felt he didn't deserve.

Someone explain to me how these fights mean Fitch is regarded as a clear, undisputed division number 2??? I see nothing in these fights to suggest this. He's one of the top guys, nothing more IMO.

Yup. I've seen nothing from Fitch in years that says he's improved at all. He's good at doing what he does, but he's the exact same fighter he was 4 years ago, and it's eventually going to catch up to him the way it did with BJ.

10-8 is supposed to be reserved for severe ass kickings in which you thought the fight was nearly stopped and there was nothing in that round that led anyone to believe that it was about to be stopped. Was it dominant? Yes, in the typical Fitch fashion where arm punches from guard equal domination.

I dunno guys. I'm often accused of being a Penn "nuthugger", but that 3rd round was so one-sided and so dominant even I'd be inclined to give a 10-8 there I think. Will watch it again to see if I am mis-remembering that 5 minutes.

Yea he dominated the 3rd round but it shouldn't have been a 10-8 round. Penn should have gotten the decision 2 rounds to 1. This ain't boxing.

WAR PENN:lol: condit about to get choke the **** out next.

Fitch should be fighting Penn again. The UFC are just dumb ****s when they don't do rematches that clearly have to happen. I love it when Dana suddenly thinks he knows what the fans want i.e. we haven't wanted GSP vs Silva for years, only very very recently.
