Nah. Prescott is made for McCloskey. He'll be swinging and hitting air whilst eating counters all night.

But I agree McCloskey is living off Khan's name. The fact that they even put Khan's name on their poster, tells you a lot.

Prescott still carries a name and is considered to be world class by some.

This should propel McCloskey onto bigger fights.

Fighting Prescott is a good way for a fighter to get at Khan, as obviously when you have your 60 second knockout loss brought up in almost every interview or article about you, and then you have opponents going on to comprehensively defeat that guy.. it gets to you.

At the same time it gives them good publicity obviously. If Mccloskey can do it in style he's feasibly within one or two fights of another title challenge.

 

you don't need to be paticularly special to be Prescott. McCloskey is a decent enough fighter just a shame he fought like a ***** agaisnt Khan.

Italy-based Cuban, Fernandes “Brunet” Zamora is the current WBA number two light-welterweight in the world and Inter-continental champion. After a blazing amateur career, where he beat the likes of current IBF champion Jan Zaveck and former British champions Lenny Daws and Barry Morrison, not to mention losing a 43-35 decision to Marcos Maidana, he turned pro in 2005, won the WBA Inter-continental belt in 2008 and patiently climbed the ladder.
After being ranked number two, with the first position vacant for a year, he just saw his overdue chance of a title shot disappear when a proposed Interim match with former European champion Paul McCloskey fell through.
In a recent interview with Irish-boxing.com, the former Khan victim declared he wanted Zamora but, unluckily, the Cuban had injured his hand in his last stoppage win and could not fight. “Brunet” has a different story to tell.
Q: How did the proposed deal to fight McCloskey come along?
A: He was promised by the WBA an interim match to decide who would occupy the then vacant number 1 position in the ranking and his first choice of opponent was no.3 Alberto Mosquera, but I was designated as mandatory co-challenger by the sanctioning body, so we were approached by his camp and negotiations started.
Q: What went wrong, then?
A: With the publication of June rankings, Humberto Soto was installed at number 1. Therefore, I reckon they saw a match with me as a risk without rewards. Prescott, who still has the reputation of being the only man to beat Khan but has been beaten twice in his last five bouts, is a bigger name, but he and McCloskey are respectively number 5 and 6 (actually 6 and 7 - Ed.). The only thing the winner can hope to get out of this is a pint of Guinness at the pub after the match.
Q: When were you told the match was off?
A: I was told at 8 pm of the day before the official announcement.
Q: What about the rumour that you injured your hand?
A: That’s a pathetic excuse. I had already started training.
Q: How do you feel about this?
A: How do you expect me to feel? I am 36 years old and I am not getting any younger. I have a wife and three daughters, I work every day from 7 to 5 as a gardener so I can support them and on top of that I train. I am unbeaten, I have been in the top ten for years, finally I seem to get a break and instead they pick a lightweight who did nothing in his career to justify his position but knocking Khan out with a lucky punch. But I blame McCloskey for this, not Prescott.
Q: Would you like to send a message to him directly?
A: Paul, you will always be behind me in the rankings and you will be beneath me, on the canvas, if you ever face me. I can get very cheap flights to Belfast with Ryan Air. Just call me and I will fight you for free.

 

McCloskey should decision Prescott who is really not that good.

If you think Prescott was robbed against Vazquez you need to stop watching boxing.

 

I can see where this is heading. McCloskey beats Prescott than calls for a rematch with Khan. It will be billed as "Unfinished Business" due to the "controversy" over their last fight. It will be a PPV extravaganza, maybe with Murray v Prescott as some kind of eliminator, maybe for the WBA "Steel" belt or something.

Prescott will absolutely smash McCloskey to pieces.

It will finish in around 6 - 8 onesided ass raping rounds.

 

I completely agree with that, Vasquez won at least 8 rounds(and clearly) imo.
However I think it's almost certain that poster didn't watch the fight in the first place and just looked at the result on boxrec. Vasquez showed how good a fighter he is that not, Prescott just couldn't deal with him.

 

McCloskey needs to stop living in Amir's shadow! Prescott did it and its getting boring! If he landed more than 6 punches in 6 rounds i may be interested! Simple factis McCloskey is not a world title beater and nothing more than a domestic level fighter! One thing for sure is we will se how good his chin is against Prescott i will get tagged at some stage.

 

So what you are saying is that Khan isn't able to land a glove on a domestic level fight despite him standing infront of him with his hands down for six rounds. Interesting.

If you think that the Khan angle isn't going to be played up in a fight between Prescott and McCloskey then you arent living in reality.
