No. That isn't the solution. The problem is with boxing, not in the broadcasting or lack of. 80% of fights bore the general public.
Do we really want boxing to appeal to the masses? The "masses" equals armchair fans who are happy to be fed a diet of **** like Haye v Harrisson. Certain people in the industry will exploit the guillability of casual fans and we will be presented with a string of overhyped bollocks. A bit like now only much worse. I'm happy to keep boxing as a minority sport, it means there's less chance of real fans being priced out of things. Anyway if anybody wants to watch more boxing than is currently on TV then how about going to an actual boxing show?
All in all Adam Smith has done a good job so far concerning Sky and boxing. However,i would like the pundits to stop ass licking boxers from this shore and give an unbiased opinion on the fights involved as its fecking bordering on the criminal at times.Fair dues, root for them but dont be disrespective of the opposition. They are also putting some good undercards on which makes it even more worth the readies.
my only request for next season would be please wheel Gary Newbon back to whatever OAP home he came from, and keep him as far away from big fights as possible
Pretty satisfied with it really. The only changes id make is on the production and comentry side. 1) Keep Dave Clark and NEVER use Gary boring Newbon ever again hes absolutely terrible and kills all the atmosphere. 2) More Spencer Oliver and Jamie Moore as pundits. They talk absolute sense. 3) **** Barry Mcguigan off he talks absolute shite. 4) Bring back Ian Darke and NEVER use John boring Rawling again. He cant provide a big fight atmosphere like Darke or even Smith can
Happy with what I am paying for with sky, I like the fact we have seen relevent fighters in the studio on fight nights (Barker, macklin, Froch, Matt Hatton etc) would like to see more of Jamie moore, and also enjoy spencer olivers thoughts. It would also be intresting to see a ban on all pens in the studio..... this would **** johnny nelson up big time!!
Adam Smiths influence has been positive imo. Bringing people like McGuigan onboard, having Ritchie Woodhall breaking down the fights, giving Spencer Oliver more input, improving the quality of ringside, and slowly but surely, they are beginning to ask more of the questions that need asking, instead of getting up the fighters arse all the time, although that is a slow process. John Rawling's voice just grates on me, he cant score a fight either, and is seemingly influenced by the crowd. Am I the only person that finds Moore a bit boring? I have nothing against the man, but as a pundit, he's not my cup tea, rarely ever says stuff that resonates with me, apart from the obvious. Ryan Rhodes was a better pundit than him when commenting after the Webb-Prince Aaron fight. Overall there is a been an improvement, but I still would still like to see an end to the predictable, rhetorical comments of Johnny Nelson, Jamie Moore, and Nicky Piper, I dont see what they bring to the table, they might be good people, but as pundits.....
Moore's alright, can't understand people going ape **** about him though. I thought Kell Brook was one of the better boxers come pundits which surprised me.
A weakness: Maloney's **** cards. Which of those are going to attract more fans to the sport? Arron-Webb is the only one I can think of, in the past few years.
