    :dealBoth Williams and Montiel were quality fighters, but where Montiel was dropped 6 times, Williams never. But I think really Sergio and Nonito are interchangeable. Recently theyve had better wins than Pacman and Floyd I have them at #1 and #2 and Manny and Floyd at #3 & #4. If Manny and Floyd were beating prime fighters in their weight class Id rate them higher.

    Martinez has a slightly better resume (especially over the last 2 years) and is never the bigger man in the ring, he only fights at 160 because he got offered a title fight there vs Pavlik and happened to win so he stays there whereas Donaire is the bigger man in every fight. They're both very close though but I cannot justify having Donaire over Martinez. They both brutally KO'd guys who were fellow top 10 p4p fighters at the time of their KO's but aside from that Martinez has the better resume with the exception of Darchinyan but that fight was over 4 years ago!

    well beating cintron, williams, pavlik, williams and dzinduruk in a row is arguably the best current run in boxing today (froch is a close rival in this sense)

    Of course the is!

    Look, it's simple. If Donaire fights, then he can take justify his place. Without fighting, he goes no where but down.

    This, 100%. Also, more better wins more recently. Nonito over Vic is pretty old and moldy by now.

    Is height the end all be all now? JMM is slightly taller than Pac and about the same fighting weight (and probably heavier walking weight).

    I don't think you want to open that can of worms.

    Either way, I don't mind having one or the other rank higher. Being #2 or #3 means very little IN THIS case (different age, weight classes, etc, etc.).

    But personally I would probably rate Martinez higher (in most days :) )

    I think Donaire is a better all round talent, but they are close and Martinez resume is slightly better. The ranking is fine, not as if Donaire is #10 and Martinez #2

    What Donaire did to Montiel is superior than Martinez's win over Williams. Montiel is a proven quantity at Bantamweight. Williams certainly has not proven to be effective at middleweight.

    **** it, the domination of Sidorenko and Mthalane (current champ at 112) was better than Martinez's victory over Williams. And I'm not even counting Hernan Martinez because Martinez didn't belong in the weight class that Donaire fought him in - much like Martinez victories over Williams and Dzinziruk that people seem to be oh-so-impressed by. There's NO comparison. At all. Donaire is dominating fighters either on the way up or were proven quantities that aren't on the decline. Martinez isn't doing that. Fact.

    Martinez weighed 170 pounds in his last fight. That's the same as Taylor, Pavlik, Zuniga, Miranda, Zertuche, Abraham, and every other recent fighter who was considered a BIG middleweight.

    Some of you guys seem to just ignore the facts in favor of opinions that attempt to do three things:

    One; make Martinez sound better than he really is;

    Two; justify Sergio's refusal to consider fighting above 160;

    Three; justify his constant yapping about welterweights and junior welterweights who are afraid to face him.

    It's quite pathetic.

    they're both pretty good but I'd actually have to favor Martinez based on RECENT competition.
