Considering some of the **** he receives from his own countrymen, I don't blame him for saying what he did.

 

What I think is Amir is just favoring which ever nation supports him. According to Amir's idol Floyd Mayweather, the UK is the one that "really studies" boxing.

 

It's statements like that from Khan over the years that have led the British to dislike him.

He and his entourage come across as arrogant in a pretty nasty way.

Someone like Haye at least has some humour in the way he comes across and it's obvious it's part of the game. But Khan often seems oblivious to the fact he might be anything less than perfect and gets the hump when people suggest otherwise.

I really dislike the fact he has turned his back on Britain. We've been paying PPV £££s to see him since the day he turned pro and this is what we get.

On a few occassions now he has taken the bigger pay packets from various TV companies knowing less British people are likely to be able to watch him.

He has shown that he is fighting for himself rather than the fans and has the cheek to complain when the Brits take umbridge with that.

As that line shows, his attitude is "If the British fans dont like me, they obviously don't know anything about boxing".

Arrogance.

He SHOULD have been stopped against Madiana, he was getting smashed and not hitting back, Referee should have stopped it no question.

No one will convince me this guy is a great until he sorts his defense out, gets hit far too easily. Mayweather will murder him inside 6 rounds, Pac would kill him, Bradley will be a good fight, but Bradley win for me

In the build up to the prescott fight Team Khan offended and pissed off quite a few boxing and media people over here in the UK , plus after so many false dawns a lot of fans didnt want to buy into the considerable hype that surrounded amir after his silver medal win - instead of steady progress as a top prospect he was packaged up as a star from day one - not all his fault but he did buy into the hype himself , and started beleiving his own bull****.

Since being with Roach he's a much more grounded and serious athlete .

What are you talking about? We got to watch Khan's fights for free when he turned pro. He was was on terrestrial TV for the first 18 or so fights. We didn't have to pay a penny for them. It was only after the Gomez fight where he went to PPV, which yes, was unwarranted.

And no, Haye has very little humour in his arrogance and trash-talking. Same thing with Calzaghe and his arrogance. We're seeing the same with Brook, too. But theirs, for some reason, is more acceptable than Khan's?
