So he priced himself out by getting 30 25 million in his next two fights? Arum low balled pbf he knew this he was only asking between 8-10 million for each fight with cotto margo and Hatton which was really low considering he got way more by fighting Hatton and Oscar. Arum was full of **** and you fell for it. Pbf left did the right thing and Arum has been bitter and hating ever since.

:patsch Get over what child? This is just a ****in discussion.

But that doesn't just excuse it. A three fight deal that included Margarito, Cotto, Hatton and DLH? That's actually 4 fights. Either way, there was nothing to stop him from facing Margarito and Cotto, as you suggest, then re-enter talks for the next two. Nothing to stop that. ****, that actually makes more sense. Well, to those with common sense.

The 4 fight deal was Floyd's counter offer, not Bob Arum's request. Bob was 3 fights... he did not want to work with Oscar.

Why would it make sense? You would pass up an Oscar fight to go fight Cotto or Margarito? Sure pal. Mayweather made more in his fight with Oscar, than he would have with the Cotto and Margarito fights COMBINED! Mayweather was also calling out Mosley at the time as well.

Bob Arum didn't feel Mayweather was worth the money. You can spin it however you want, but those are the facts. Bob Arum changed his tune AFTER Floyd made his huge paydays. Margarito wasn't the "most feared man in boxing" when Mayweather was with Top Rank. This all came up after Floyd was no longer under the Top Rank banner. Bob Arum was just using Mayweather's name to build up his fighters. Not like Bob was getting his cut from Mayweather fights anymore anyways.

People who say he was ducking these guys don't know the facts or have a major agenda.

Pass up an oscar fight? Is that what you got from my post? WTF is it with you floyd defenders that makers reading somewhat a challenge? :huh

Here's what I was saying, you said Floyd agreed to Margarito and Cotto. Fine, lets pretend that's true. WHy not just fight those two, then renegotiate for Hatton and DLH, using those two previous fights for more leverage? Are you still with me? Do you think Flooyd only signs 3-4 fight agreements? Nope.

He called out Mosley. Cool...he also called out Winky only to run away when he accepted. Guys call out other all the time. Means nothing unless they agree to fight.

You'd have to restructure the entire contract Lance. BOB ARUM WAS NOT WILLING TO DO THAT! What don't you get? It's really not hard to understand. It was BOB ARUM who said no deal and moved on, not Floyd. Bob Arum has admitted this fact yet you continue to point at Mayweather!!! Why?

Why renegotiate at a later date when you can just be a free agent and start talking to Oscar and Hatton immediately?

Why is it Mayweather's fault Bob Arum didn't want to restructure the contract and/or keep negotiating?

"Sometimes you got to know when to hold'em and when to fold'em." -- Bob Arum

And I DID NOT SAY he agreed to Margarito and Cotto... Bob Arum said it. I'm just bringing out the facts.

bob thought floyd was a great fighter....but that he could never become a superstar.....because roy never became one...and shane didnt....he didnt think floyd/oscar would sell ****.....if a fighter didnt have the mexicans or puerto ricans behind him he couldnt really sell and become a superstar....thats bobs thinking....he underestimated floyd greatly

i remember an article iole wrote...i think last year.....we all know iole isnt the biggest floyd fan...but the whole article was about how well floyd sells.....he quoted floyd and haymon in it....they said they had this whole plan all along to market floyd....but bob wouldnt let them carry it out....arum wanted to paint him as the all american kid with amazing skills.....but they knew that would never help them get to the level they wanted

"Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

Ellerbe said Mayweather opted for the buyout so he could be "more in control of when and who he fights next. It's as simple as that. There is nothing bad between Floyd and Bob."

"The reason Mayweather opted for the buyout rather than waiting for the May 6 result was because the contract had a limited window for the buyout, one that expired before the De La Hoya fight."

Spin it however you want guys, but Bob Arum didn't have the foresight and made a BAD BUSINESS DECISION. It really is that simple. Margarito also ended up losing his title to Paul Williams after all this.

the only way you can satisfy these tards is to get a time machine

make floyd go back in time and fight all the guys he has...and find a way to cram margs, cotto, winky, pwill, sergio martinez in there...probably a couple other guys...then maybe these guys would be satisfied for a minute

Love or hate him the fact that your very poor, boring thread, has produced 5 pages of talk kind of answers your original question.

My guess is the money Floyd wanted. Before Hatton and DLH, Floyd was not a big draw. Decent, but not close to what his ego wanted. So for him to ask for guanrtees on future purses is just asinine. That's why he would have been better off facing Margarito and Cotto then talking about Hatton and DLH next.

I gotta say, it is odd seeing a Floyd fan use words from Arum as gospel here. Props. :thumbsup

:patsch You stupid ****, it's just a discussion on our opinions. You probably think posters saying FACT means they are using only facts? NVM...I should know better then to try and ask you anything.
