I know it's like wlad adding on his defences from his wbo reign when lewis was champ. I don't mind counting defences from when a guy is perceived as the top dog, but two guys claiming they are champs both racking up record defences, it renders the whole thing meaningless imo. I'm not even saying linearity has to be established before counting defences but surely you have to atleast be the top ranked in the division for a defence to mean anything.
i'm not sure, enlighten me with a source. whatever happenned though, it doesn't hide the fact that clinton woods is one of the most limited fighters to ever win a world title. when calzaghe thought it was time to move up to 175, he took out the real deal on foreign soil, the ring champ in his 1st fight at the weight for a huge payday.
It would have been big at home, don't you think? If you need a source to believe that, then you really must not pay the attention a die hard fan does. Woods challenged him, Calzaghe just brushed him off. Some call that a duck.
calzaghe was doing nothing to make a fight with jones during jones' reign. trust me, joe's name was never mentioned one time.
Joe C was perfectly fine fighting at home and making a ton of money against he best the WBO had to offer. Roy at his peak was just on another level then Joe C, and most boxers.
so you get to ask for a source from others but not provide one for your facts? woods was all heart. enjoyed watching him fight. in 2002, i think he would have give joe all he could handle.
i'm not sayin he was but lets not make out that woods was ever more of a threat than calzaghe. woods is an incredibly limited fighter who brilliantly made the most of what talent he had.
how big do you think it would have been? when was the woods offer made? how much was offered? who was calzaghe's opponents at the time?
your entitled to your opinion on woods, in britain he is known for being extremely limited with a ton of heart. you know the link i provide is a direct quote from jay larkin, go look it up if you have the time to find where it is originally sourced. Look, none of my answers will erase the fact that it did occur. I gain nothing by making **** up on a message board full of anonymous posters. Woods was wrangling for a fight and got ignored. So, do you call that a duck?
one other thing that i haven't seen brought up on these boards is that when joe was the wbo belt holder in 2001, that's when the wbo moved darrin morris up in the super middle rankings after he died. word is that frank w was still hoping for the fight vs joe.
Having watched him over a big chunk of his career, yes, I know that. But your island is the size of a football field. Travelling 200 miles to fight is still pretty much his home court.
If boxing is a public pool, calzaghe is one of the greatest ever swimmers in the kiddie pool. He would drown the real pool.
you would have to answer the questions above for me to answer that accurately. you need to understand that and find the relevant information out for me.
