This is exciting news. I'm sure Khan would be getting over seven or eight million a fight if he was defending a world title at UK hours on the network channels.

Wouldn't it be poetic if a fighter named Tyson Fury brought boxing back to the mainstream for while.

Those are some great figures. Hopefully Channel 5 make it a regular thing.

I could be great for channel 5 as there figures are normally quite low for normal TV as long as Hennessy dont price themselves out I think is will work out great and the non hardcore boxing fans got a great fight if they had watched the Khan fight it would have put them off watching another one as it was pretty boring

It was a good fight. I was very impressed by Tyson Fury, he's still rough around the edges but he has a great chin for a heavyweight and isn't falling over like the rest of the useless twats. I'm happy he's not a circus act anymore, he's coming along as a legit heavyweight.

thing is the joe public will lose interest if ''Fat Mick'' puts mis-matches on, needs to keep the fights competitive

According to the article the highest rating show for the night was the national lottery on the BBC - peaking at 5.5m in an earlier time slot.

So 2.9m at 11 oclock with little advertising on channel5 - not bad at all for a 'niche' sport.
