  1. i am wondering what is the general view of this fighter?
i've been watching a lot of ufc unleashed on the tv and he has popped up quite a bit.
he seems like a really good fighter to my eyes.

i just looked him up on wiki and was surprized to see he is only 28yrs old!
he fought in UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida, which was on 20/11/10, is he still with the UFC?

no, he sustained a really serious leg injury which he never got surgery for. i do not know if it was because he didnt want it or because it is impossible to fix, but he is a shell of his former self. definitely not up to fighting in the ufc anymore and was let go after his last ufc fight, he lost due to bull**** ref stoppage to a bum in some garbage canadian promotion his last fight i think.

he used to be absolutely amazing though. one of the top 5 best welterweights mma has seen so far.

No he was cut after a KO loss to Dennis Hallman. Yes Karo is very young but hes well past his prime, hes been fighting since he was a kid I think he fought Sean Sherk when he was like 17 or 18 a couple of times. Lots of wear and tear and lots of bad injuries and also mentally hes fell apart the last 3 years or so. At his peak the kid was a beast his striking was never all that great but he was one of the best Judo guys MMA has ever seen and had a GNP and Submission game to back it up. Back in the mid 2000s he was racking up wins over guys like Nick Diaz, Nick Thompson, Josh Burkman, Chris Lytle, Matt Serra and many others.

He was a talented judoka who got involved in some serious wars with the likes of GSP and Diego Sanchez.

Finished now, injuries and personal problems have put paid to his career at the top of the game.

His Judo throws are the best.
The best throws in the world.
All other Judo throws are done by little girls.

hands down the best Judoak in MMA. No one has been able to apply Judo to MMA like he has, he was also practically immune to any submission attacks, very good grappeling defense. Unfortunately though his game was not versatile enough for him to win a championship, however, he was the number one contender to Matt Hughes's belt before tearing his hamstring and going downhill from there. At this point, I think MMA has become to evolved for his skill set, but regardless, he brings an aspect to the sport that is very rare.

Amazing throws that seemed to come out of nowhere to somebody like me who doesn't know judo. Really sad to see somebody that good not become a champion.
