So, when the ref was giving the rules to the fighters in the center of the ring he said "anything below here will be counted as a low blow"

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSzm6h-elGM[/ame]

You can see that right at the 5:05 mark the ref is touching the top of Zab's trunks.

Now after seeing the replay, I don't think Kahn's punch was low enough to have hit Zab "plums", but there is no question that it was well below where the ref was pointing.

So, if one wants to give Zab the benefit of the doubt (and I don't!), you could say that he was hit low based on the ref's instructions and he was thinking the ref could be consistent with his pre-fight instructions.

    thoughts?

I think anyone trying to justify it as low is blind.

I feel the same way. Was it low in the sense that it hit Zab in the balls? No

Was it low in the sense that it hit lower than where Vic said was legal? Absolutely

    Are you thick mate?

He pretended he was hit in the testicles, when he clearly wasn't, in order to escape a beating, whether or not he was actually hit below the belt line (but still in the gut) is irrelevant.

The fact he faked it, shows he obviously had no intention on staying in the fight.

the dick head shouldnt have his trunks pulled up to his shoulders and there wouldnt be a debate he is a full on nob rash.

He bottled it, khan was all over him like a cheap suit.

Think it was a questionable blow by the rule book, hard to argue either way. Fact is it was irrelevant, Judah was getting beaten up and would have been stopped for sure, either by KO or TKO, his heart and will had left the fight.

    This.

The result should remain the same though. Zab was clearly looking for a way out. His corner would have had to pull him out within the next round or two anyway.

I wish the fight didnt end that way, but it was clear Zab wanted no more of the fight.

The fact that he was on the floor like he was in pain, then to jump up at the 10 count was pretty pathetic. If you get hit with a low blow you do your best to get up ASAP, especially if the Ref is giving u a 10 count. Zab Bitched out on what was going to be a TKO in a round or so.

Even if you think it was low the result would have been the same. Zab would have lost.

Technically is for schmoes, low is a shot in the balls, not in the belly button.

The OP is 100% right, technically it was a low blow as the ref stated before the fight started. Zab tried to use this to take a BIG timeout and regroup after beatings he was taking in round 5 and from previous rounds.

In my opinion it was poor refereeing as he should have stuck by the rules he himself stated in the beginning. I think there should be some sort of refereeing panel like they have in cricket (umpiring), giving certain referees elite status that perform at a consistently top standard.

Im just disappointed that it ended in such a manner by robbing Khan of a clean and fantastic victory.

Technically, it is indeed low blow. Khan should have deducted a point, and Zab should have been made rest by 5minute max. But Zab tried to lay 'floored', trying to get a DQ win, but the ref didn't budge and instead ruled a KD, and eventually a KO.

Was low, but he heard the ref count to 10. If you want to fight you get up. If not you stay down

Technically, it was low. But you get the feeling that Judah would have went down faking a low-blow, even if it was fully legit.

I wish the referee had a better view of it. He would have definitely called it low and would have allowed Judah the time to recover. Khan could have then gone on to finish him properly. I kind of felt robbed seeing it end prematurely.
