Nah, it's because Kessler got on his chest (which Ward will most likely do) and that stopped Froch from getting enough going. A simple piece of adaptation on Kesslers behalf, great fight though. Ward SHOULD take this easily enough. But you can never count on Frochy!!! I don't expect a negative performance from Ward either, he's ballsy so Froch will have his opportunities. I just don't think Frochy can get him out of there, and that's what he'll need to do to win IMO.
I think most are going that way. Do you think Ward is one of those special fighters?? I think if Froch wins it would have to do down as one of the best ever British wins.
A very well thought out and classy prediction vid from ESB British Forum's Jakub aka Soulfood Boxing! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClWpbxxT9w0&feature=channel_video_title[/ame]
I think that's a little unfair on Ward. He has dominated everyone he has faced in the comp, and it's hard to make a case for him losing more than half a dozen rounds in the process.
Problem for Froch is, I think he's at his worst when he's advancing, he's pretty terrible at it. He mostly just walks or runs(depending on the tempo) forward, with zero movement of the head and with no proper technique behind his shots. If Ward chooses to fight on the outside, he'll dominate IMO, the same kind of way he did when he fought from range against Kessler. He can really lunge with the jab, and he's very precise with it too, it's easy to envisage him circling and snapping the Cobra's head back in order to coast to a decision. Then again, Ward's not one to fight safety first, which opens up yet more frailties in Froch's game, mainly his inability to be effective on the inside. You saw Kessler, if he could beat Froch by simply getting on his chest what's SOG gonna do? Kessler's hardly near the pinnacle of inside experts, so if he could make that adaptation one can only assume that someone as adept on the inside as Ward is will be able to exploit him to an even greater degree. Froch, in essence, is only a top-level fighter at mid-range, Ward has more strings to his bow than that, and it'll show. He won't let Froch fight at that range, and he'll make things comfortable for himself inside and outside to nullify Carl. The jab to the body will be important too, Ward's shown the capacity to use it in close or when he's got space, he's one of the few fighters around that throw it with such expertise and he can really straighten his adversaries up with it.
Yup I understand. But in reality, Ward hasn't needed the judges as the fights have been so 1 sided. The only case that can be made is the Kessler fight in which he got away with headbutts. Really hope Carl wins this, but just can't see it
Define 'special'? Obviously, I think he's sheer class. 'Special' is something I give to a fighter when all is said and done, and I look back at his career and go 'Wow'! It would be a great British win down to the fact that stylistically it seems to favour Ward massively (exactly why I'm going for Ward) but the division doesn't have enough history, and Ward doesn't have the reputation of say, Kid Chocolate, Jack Britton or even Tszyu at this point. This is to prove who the no.1 really is, not the same as beating a fighter who is already established as a true force to be reckoned with (obviously Kostya falls behind the other 2 I've mentioned, but that's why Ricky isn't on Berg/Ted Lewis' level) It will be a class win (especially if Ward goes on to have a succesful career) no doubt though. If Froch does win, it adds to an already stellar ledger, and, against all odds, he goes down as one of our greatest fighters of all time. Wards list of opponents aren't quite as impressive But with wins over Kessler, Froch and Bute afterward he really shows what a formidable fighter he is. Only my opinion of course, I agree that whoever comes out on top here deserves universal acclaim and praise, both guys have run the gauntlet here. Can't wait to be honest, **** Bute :deal :thumbsup
Ward will take 4 of the first 6. Froch will start to pour it on in the last 4 rounds. Carl stops him Taylor style in the 11th or 12th. Is Ward prepared to dig as deep as Froch? No IMO.
Ok, so how does Froch beat this guy? I've said he needs to be more active and use his jab a lot more than usual. Any other ideas?
Body shots early on. Ward is hard to hit clean, he needs to slow Andre down and then no stop punching in combinations.
big shots and pressure...... get ward out of his comfort zone, like everyone says if it goes to points froch is ****ed im with that, so i say you may aswell go down fighting and just try and smash **** out of him and hope for the best. i hope froch lays him out.
