I met Ricky in Glasgow last night and i had a good wee chat with him and the topic of his ring enterance came up, he asked if i thought the DJ in the pub would play the song from last week "hardcore feelings". Spoke to him about everything from the Arthur and Martinez fights, Fana, the rocky belt, Kevin Mitchell and even ESB! Top bloke and very genuine, made my night.
Can you see Scott working as a joiner again? I definitely cant, and think its boxing or in with the wrong crowd.
Billy, i was talking to ricky about the forums last night, whats his username, i know he posts on here now or is at least registered lol.
Billy, on a completely different note, hows Craig McEwan getting on? I hope your taking good care of him, cos I predicted here that he like Ricky Burns would be a future world champion, cos the guy oozes natural talent. ****in criminal that Roach moved him aside so he could cosy up to Khan if the rumours are true... & you my good man seem to be my dream maker again! So make 'em a reality if you dont mind & whip him into tip to shape, & get us another world champ:good If you dont mind that is:yep
Well you should talk, dont forget peter Harrison took you under his wing and taught you everything you know about boxing, if it wasnt for peter you wouldnt have your own gym you should be grateful to him .
Your right he taught me most things i know, but he he absoulutly nothing to do with me getting my gym,me and my wifes money went into that gym no one elses. The same could be said about Peter having me,i was very loyal to Peter and Scott, put it this way if i wasnt any good at what i done i would'nt have been there thats the way Peter works. The bottom line is mate you never seen all the work i done daily basis in that gym and im very proud of the my imput, even prouder now that i trained a world champion by myself because the truth be known i got little credit for what i done for Peter.
Dunky, Craig is improving weekly in the gym, initally hes found the training very hard but hes getting used to the work ethics that i expect in the gym. The guy is very very talented and has started sparring for Sept 17th in the MGM on the Mayweather show,in sparring yesturday he began to look amazing to be honest, hes a very quick learner and a joy to work with.
I was training in 'New Beginnings' in Motherwell about 15 years ago with Peter Harrison when I first met Billy. It was around the time when Scott won bronze at the euro amateurs. Sure Alex Arthur was coming through then and I think it was lawrence murphys dad's gym. Peter had been moving about for a bit after leaving Glasgow Transport circa '94. Billy would certainly have been helping Peter with Scott, Alex and others and it might have been the start of his coaching time. I don't remember for sure but I don't recall him with Peter at Glasgow Transport. Think it was Paul Graham. I thought then that Alex was a really likeable character and different to Scott who always seemed quiet, sullen and focused even. Scott was the top-banana though, even then, and a great trainer. Peter was unavailable one time for us and so Billy stood in at short notice and took us for a few fights. I always liked Peter and was extremely grateful to Billy for stepping in to help out. :blurp
