would joe be an amierican than maybe yes. i mean, everybidy said, beatin up ol X was easy and X was way past prime, than X beats everybody too become champ again and looks good doing it. the thing is, joe was a very good boxer, always came too fight, had rock solid chin and his condition was pacquiao like. for me he is amongs the best, wont say where because gonne get too much heat hahaha
Although I think the rankings are dubious....Boxrec doesn't have him in the top 100 - formula was done by a Brit as well
I remember hearing that prime jones had called out joe and joe stated that he was " after big pay days not big fights" however that make sense, if thats not ducking, jiving and hiding we might as well add that joe would of beat tyson. Joes best win is kessler... that is all. Beating corpses and never weres doesnt count for much in my book.
Top 50 is a good acomplishment in a sport with as rich of a history as boxing. Why cant we be proad of this
Why has this thread got 446 comments? JC is top 10 ATG - NO JC is a top 30 ATG - NO JC is a top 100 ATG - NO Why continue this farce?
It goes to show who has real boxing knowledge and who doesn't I've followed boxing ever since the 1920's, idiots on here have followed boxing from the 90's and think Joe is a top 100 ATG There are I think 116 modern day fighters in the boxing hall of fame. And the only one I rank lower than Calzaghe is Barry Mcguigan, but even that is a close call I haven't even begun to talk about the old timers: Jimmy Wilde, (Best Welsh boxer ever, sorry Joe) Jack Dempsey, Ted Kid Lewis e.t.c Joe is not in the top 100 ATG
No way is Calz a top 10 atg. He did not face any elite great boxers at there peak and there most certainly was! He was hugely protected in his early part of his career and only ventured out at the end of his SMW reign when it was safer. He was a very good boxer but he took too long to search for the challenges. Compare him to Froch who ventured out for his first title defence aginst a very good boxer. I know a lot of boxers stay home but he really stayed home for a very long time. Has he even got a career defining fight? Domestically, Eubank, Benn, Collins and Watson have, but he missed the boat somehow.....
edited u bellend. 46-0 there is no blueprint Speed! Footwork! Headmovment! Aggression! Combinations! Jab! Inside and outside game! Cheeeen! Durability! Workrate! Power (before damage to hands)! He had it all baby! Sir Joe is a ****ing legend! Name me 29 boxers that much skill and that much going for them with that many talents. <no ****ing chance ATG top 30:deal This content is protected
For him to be an top 10 ATG, he would somehow have to surpass some of the great middleweights of the 80s and 90s. If he was then he'd have to be ranked higher than some of these guys: Hagler, Hearns, SRL, Duran, RJJ, Toney and Hops at the top of my head. Somehow this seems wrong, VERY WRONG.
