Calzaghe must be top 10 atg ?

Well the Boxing Writers Association of America voted him the 3rd greatest fighter of the 2000s behind Pac and Mayweather, and over fighters like Hopkins and Marquez. That's in the history books.

I don't know about him being top 100, he's definately NOT top 10, but Joe deserves more respect than he's getting in this thread. Best super middleweight of his era, possibly best all-time. Defended his belt 20 times, picked up all the 4 major straps, the Ring and lineal titles in his reign. In his final defences he stepped up and squashed the challenges of his much hyped young rivals, one from America who was supposed to massacre him, and one from Europe who was supposed to end his reign and take over. How much more comprehensive can you get?

Only fighters he missed fighting in his division were notorious German dodgers Ottke and Beyer, and the inconsistent Glen Johnson through injuries. They wouldn't have added much to legacy anyway.

Hopkins ducked him from 2001-2006, turning down millions and preferring to fight more popular smaller fighters, so Joe couldn't have done anything about that. This was the same Hopkins that also refused to rematch Roy Jones in his prime which he needed for his legacy, and when it was one of the biggest fights that could be made with fans and media calling for it.

When Hopkins finally got the balls for it, Joe got the W to become Ring champ in another division. Again that's in the books, you can't take that away from him. And the fact Hopkins has some legacy enhancing wins both immediately before and long after the Calzaghe fight you can't say he was shot against Calzaghe either. Give the man his proper respect.

 

This gay guy is one of the biggest hyped bums in the history of the sport.
Absolutely no young boxer will attempt to imitate his flailing womanly style, and fear of fighting the best fighters available.
If anyone associated with this bum is to placed within the Top-10 of any list, it would be his manager, Frank Warden (sp!) the greatest hype promoter of this era who saw his prime meal ticket, Calzaghe, fight every dishwasher and garbage man in London.

If someone sat down and made a top 100 list then yea joe would struggle, especially once the s6 is over.
