Very impressed so far. I think he fits well with the other talents around his division like Gamboa,Rigo,Donaire and Bronner.
Yeah, fair comparison I think, and thats saying something:good He relies on boxing fundamentals a lot more than Jones did though. He is more tchnically sound than Jones was. His hands are up far higher and he makes use of a good stiff jab. Hes a lot less of a power puncher though obviously.
haven't seen a guy go to the head and body so naturally in a long time he goes to the head and body like duran used too just so flawlessly without skipping a beat
Can't see the comparison to Jones. This kid is much more grounded in fundamental boxing skills than Jones ever was. Anyone have or see the whole fight?
He hasn't faced any decent competition yet but he seems to have very good skills and exceptional handspeed. One thing that stuck out to me was that despite his great handspeed he doesn't seem to be an effective counter-puncher.
Lots more footage was broadcast. That's all I'm saying about that. Plus, seems like all of his recent matches(before this last one) seem to be shown, on Fox Sports tv(I think that is the network).
I've known about Russell for quite sometime now. His speed is mind blowing and he has good defense to. He should be a major player at 126 in about a year.
Full fight should be out there somewhere, I watched it on the primetime UK undercard. And yes, the whole performance is just as fantastic as that clip made it out to be. The kid is unbelievable.
