The lad is pure class. As long as he is prepared to put everything into boxing he will be a special fighter.
I seen him in the amateurs and he fights the same way. I think he won't get anywhere untill he develops his power. Pressure fighting Mexicans will beat him each time.
Just watched Cano, Aranda, Pastrana, Villanueva and De Leon. Cano took 2 standing 8 counts, a KD and corner threw in the towel. Pastrana took a right hook and a barrage of quick shots. Villanueva was put down with two bodyshots and then knocked out. Only Aranda and De Leon made it out of the first round, Aranda put down in the first with a lovely sidestep and straight left, and stopped with a bodyshot in the second. De Leon boxed conservatively behind a high guard and had only been stopped by one other man, lost a shutout. GR Jr. looked a bit flat here IMO. +Speed +Composure +Steps up pace when opponent is hurt +Good variety/body punching +High guard/able to slip and parry when he wants to -Short reach (although went from 62" to 68"?) -Short 5'5" -Can stay a bit still in both footwork and head movement One to watch, and a fight with Gamboa would need to be in slowmo.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSiw1mo5vkg[/ame] hes like a left handed gamboa but he doesnt showboat
The fights I found on youtube: Cano Aranda Pastrana Villanueva De Leon Viloria Landeros Meza Removed links because cba getting banned again.
Saw him on the Khan undercard and his hand speed was ridiculous. Not only was he insanely fast but he threw his shots with great accuracy and moved from body to head or vice versa with brilliant fluidity. Hugely exciting.
Heard he was fast but only saw that myself for the first time the other night. Unbelievable handspeed. Gonna look for a few of his fights now actually.
All new Russell fans - welcome. :good Now kick yourselves for completely neglecting the Solo Boxeo and Fight Night @ Club Nokia series. :nono Over a dozen of his matches have been televised...and like ten straight now.
I don't see it. This guy is no Gamboa. He's not on his level, and fundamentally, if he doesn't make some significant improvements, he won't be elite.
his defense is more polished than gamboa's. still a prospect, but, the guy has all the tools to be great :smoke
