I can see you are a huge Vitali fan. You believe his words over your own eyes.

Me - when I see a big robotic giant quit after being embarrassed for 9 rounds by a much smaller man, I see that as bitching out. Byrd was winning by 2 rounds on any sane person's scorecard.

Vitali had better beat Adamek or he will go down as the most ridiculous paper champion in history. But he'll lose, just like he lost to the only other 2 live opponents he faced.

First of all, there's no way Vitali beats Adamek.

Second, the reason Vitali never loses rounds is because he only fights fat slow bums. I'm sure you could outbox Sam Peter and Chris Arreola, unless you're a lard ass too.

He was ahead on the scorecards in Germany. You forgot to mention that crucial piece of info.

And I assure his shoulder didn't hurt nearly as much as Arthur Abraham's broken jaw against Edison Miranda. Difference: Abraham went the distance and got his German gift decision. Vitali bitched out.

Thank you for actually watching the Vitali-Byrd fight, instead of just looking at the scorecards like the other idiots here do. They probably don't even know the fight was in Germany, where the local fighter can not lose a decision unless he's floored at least ten times.

Byrd won a close fight, and everyone diminishes his achievement just because Vitali makes excuses. Funny how people criticise Haye for making excuses, when he actually fought the entire fight.

He was up by a round or two in reality. Byrd has just had his best round of the fight when Vitali disgracefully quit. Holyfield and Pascal have fought on with the same injury. Vitali realized himself he quit and could have fought on when he said that if the same thing happened against Lennox Lewis, he would fight on.

I agree with this list. But it contains a Sam Peter, who was a paper champion, Chris Arreola and Solis. These guys were all fat.

Why doesn't Vitali fight guys who are fit and fast? You'll find the answer to that question in the Vitali-Byrd fight.

The fast guys all go to Wlad. Chambers, Byrd, Haye, Chagaev, Povetkin. These were never offered a shot at Vitali's title, after Vitali got outboxed by Byrd.

Even in a thread about Vitali's wins, we talk about his losses. That's what happens when you only fight fat pushovers.

I think Vitali realised he was getting outboxed by Byrd, and that the momentum was going in Byrd's favor. Vitali had no idea the judges were scoring it in his favor. He thought he was going to lose.

When I said 5-9 that's because that is where the debate comes in. 1-4 were all clear vitali rounds which is why I think it was after here he injured his shoulder.

If you give them 1 each from 6 and 7 that puts vitali 6-3 up after 9. But it could be arguably 5-4 vitali because I gave them both byrd.

Obviously vitali quit so he was in discomfort and severe pain. Also round 9 was quite onesided. It aint much of a stretch thinking byrd would take the last 3.

So yes vitali was up, but that fight was close. I had vitali 1 round up but due to 6 and 7 being close I can see vitali being 5 rounds up.

What's interesting is byrd outlanded vitali from 5 onwards whilst throwing far less. He showed much greater defence and was walking vitali down clearly being the ring general.

Accepting 1-4, 8 are vitali rounds. 5,9 are byrd rounds.

Surely you accept that 6 and 7 were competitive enough they COULD be scored in favour of byrd.

Nope, it is just that Vitali's haters are trying to convince themselves that he would have lost anyway if the fight continued. They have a hard time coming to terms with that fact that he was up in both fights when the injury stoppage happened.

Vitali outlanded Byrd in 6 and 7. Vitali clearly won round 6. It wasn't that close. You can give 7 to Byrd if you really wanted to stretch it but Byrd didn't do enough to win it.

The breakdown in stats is as thus

    1-4: k=184(44) b=101(27)

    5-6: k=126(33) b=75(39)

    7-8: k= 126(38.) b=70(34)

    9:k=66(17) b=38(24)

With all due respect I aint a hater of vitali and I probably view him in a better light than you do.

It is obvious who landed the clean effective shots after round 5. It is also obvious who demonstrated the better defence. You can't really deny byrd was the ring general.

Compare the first half with the second

    1-4:k=184(44) b=101(27)

    5-9:k=318(88) b=183(97).

Also you didn't really detract my original point even with your scoring that puts it 6-3 with byrd a clear favourite to take the last 3.

My scoring was 7-2 as I said that Byrd didn't have round 7. Not sure what is your point though. Of course it is hard to box if one can barely abduct the arm. Are you arguing that Vitali should have continued and risked permanent injury or nerve damage and end of a career over a signle fight?

My point is just that the fight was competitive and not a one sided beatdown that some people claim without having seen the fight.

You yourself accepted byrd could be given rounds 5, 7 and 9. On that form he winds up with a draw by the conclusion.

I am not qualified to say if vitali made the right decision or not. All I know is the fight was competitive and momentum was on byrd's side.
