All of Vitali's opponents say two things after fighting him: "He is much faster than he looks" "I could not get close to hit him" You can't get sparring partners to prepare for Vitali there are not any 6'8" Heavyweights that can do the things he can and his lean back style is very difficult so is that "slapping" left hook he throws after he leans back and the opponent is still coming forward right into it. :good
He is incredibly perceptive and seems to see almost everything coming. Not that he doesn't get caught sometimes when he's baiting. Usually to little effect; great chin, he can risk it. Combine that with his height, reflexes and leanback style and he's incredibly hard to reach. Steward pointed out in his commentary of the arreola fight his uncanny sense for what his opponent is going to do. People find him awkward, but I think he's interesting and the more exciting of the two brothers.
yes the arreola fight impressed me too! not that arreola is that good but he handled him pretty easy! he saw everything coming from arreola!
Vitali is the fooking man! Very underrated skills. He's very good at what he does. I need to go to bed! It's late here...
Vitali would beat Golota in 1 round. The mentally unstable Pole would most likely repeat the Tyson scenario, Vit is REALLY good at intimidating people.
Vitali is a very underrated counterpuncher. He throws straight CPs from a distance too, which makes him even more difficult to pursue if your the shorter guy.
Not the one that fought Bowe. After Golota reached a level of success close to the top, he started to crumble under the pressure. Been there, done that with my tennis game back in the late 80's. Started to reach to quarters & semi's of a few local tounaments & kinda surprised myself. After awhile, I put too much pressure on myself expecting results & things started to go haywire. I think AG went through the same thing. Mentally, he found himself in a corner with no way out. Give him credit, at least he kept trying.
I give him credit for never giving up. Very similar career to Oleg Maskaev. KTFO by some upncomers, but could come back 2-3 yrs later and beat a contender to get right back in there. But Vitali is 10X anything Bowe could ever aspire to be, and even though Bowe has the golota and Holyfield wars to his credit, he ducked and ducked and ducked when it came to some other big fights he shoulda took.
You guys aren't listening! I said THE GOLOTA OF 1996. After that is when he realized he had major head problems as he got close to the top of the HW division. Just couldn't clear that final huddle. But before his mind went in the tank. He was one tough & skilled fighter, with power.
I really like Maskaev. Thanks for reminding about him. How 'bout the time he knocked Rahman through the ropes!!!!!!!!! :happy [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQeqquW1ugo[/ame] Yeah, VK is rougher than Bowe. I NEVER liked Bowe. Another fool who didn't know how the throw a good straight right hand. He'd loop that ****, catching ppl on the back of the head. I think thats why Golota banged his nuts, getting him back for all the rabbit punching he was doing.
When Bowe knocked Golota down in their rematch he honestly landed at least 7 right hands to back back of his head.
Vitali is like a shark, he comes in, takes a bite and moves away until the victim stops struggling, then he moves in for the kill....
