The towel was thrown in! Its the refs job to protect the fighter not to send him out there on one leg to be slaughtered. Ive never seen a ref throw the towel back outta the ring when it was thrown in.

Foreman had a few nice rounds beforehand, but Cotto was still well up in the fight, and it wasn't Cotto's fault that Mercante is such a glorywhore and wanted more camera time at Yuri's expense.

 

I had a thread on this when they did a replay of the fight with a new note by Lampley. My mind was blown.

So anyone believe there was any wild conspiracy to get Foreman the title from Cotto?

Well, it was Foreman that had the title and Cotto who was the challenger, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was in many peoples' interests to see Foreman win. Cotto was being written off by a lot of people, and it doesn't seem like Arum to feed a marketable undefeated champion like Foreman to a fighter many see as damaged goods who already made him good money. I don't personally think there was a conspiracy, but it's a fun and interesting angle to look at it with.

 

Oh yeah, totally forgot foreman was the 154 belt holder.

I guess I was thinking maybe a conspiracy to get him a big win.
