    I still do not believe in Vitali´s shoulder injury, imo it´s just an excuse. Vitali threw many hard punches in the first few rounds, but missed with most of them due to Byrd´s elusiveness. He simply gassed and Byrd took over after round 5. When they realized that Vitali could´nt stop Byrd, they brought up that injury. Vitali still threw punches with the right in the later rounds. How could he, if he was that injured ? Cause he´s such a tough guy ? Now why wasn´t he tough enough to fight on with one Hand though ?

    My scoring for Vitali vs Byrd:

    Round 1: Each fighter lands 2 punches. The rest is ineffective aggression by Vitali and good defense by Byrd. 10-10.

    Round 2: Vitali lands a couple at the start, then Byrd lands a couple of good counters later. Byrd makes Vitali look like an amateur for the rest of it, landing a few counters. 10-9 Byrd.

    Round 3: Vitali has Byrd cornered for 30 seconds, and can not land one decent punch. So far in the fight, Byrd has taken punches only to his gloves! One good punch lands for each. Larry Merchant: "Byrd may be trying to wear Vitali out." 10-10.

    Round 4: Vitali misses a series of punches, and Byrd lands a crisp overhand left. Vitali lands 4 decent rights as Byrd moves in on him. 10-9 Vitali.

    Round 5: Byrd chases the big man around the ring for the whole round, taking zero punches and landing about 5 clean shots on Vitali's head. 10-9 Byrd.

    Round 6: They trade ineffective punches as Byrd moves forward the whole round. Jim Lampley: "Last Year, Ross Purity wore out Wladimir and stopped him late. Byrd is trying to do the same to Vitali." 10-10.

    (After 6 rounds, they have landed almost the same number of punches, but Byrd has landed several clean effective ones, and Vitali zero.)


    Round 7: Byrd blocks almost everything Vitali throws, and lands a few counters. Larry Merchant: "David is moving forward, and Goliath is going backward." Vitali has 25% accuracy so far, compared to Byrd's 39%. 10-9 Byrd.

    Round 8: Byrd feels Vitali is getting weak, and presses forward, but gets hit with a few good counters. 10-9 Vitali.

    Round 9: Vitali still can't land a clean punch, and Byrd plays games with him as he counterpunches Vitali into pure frustration. Byrd is now walking Klitschko down. Jim Lampley: "This is the longest Vitali has had to fight so far in his career." 10-9 Byrd.

    Vitali quit on his stool. All excuses are just words. He could have fought with one hand. Ali and Abraham fought with broken jaws. Marciano fought with two noses. Vitali could have relied on his other arm. He didn't think he could avoid getting stopped (tired, anyone?).

    Jim Lampley: "I can't beilieve it."

    Then don't, Jim!

    Larry Merchant: "All he had to do was stay on his feet for 3 rounds."

    Then maybe it wasn't really his arm. Maybe he was just exhausted. He quit. Period. There's a reason, and we may never know it. But he quit. TKO.

    My score: 88-86 for Chris Byrd.

    At what point do you believe he got injured then? Surely round 4 after that statement?

    And over the course of 9 rounds you can't deny it was competitive.

    1-4 I gave to vitali as he was clearly the boss imo and was stopping byrd from doing anything.

    5-7 byrd's defence was rendering vitali's aggression ineffective and he was backing him up.

    Round 8 vitali landed some good shots

    Round 9 was quite one sided for byrd imo.

    So I had it 5-4 vitali with byrd well on the way to winning the fight.

    He quit against byrd so he lost then.

    Against lewis he lost his face and the ref deemed him unfit to continue, so he also lost then.

    I believe vitali proved he had against lewis, he tried to fight on in that fight which made up for his quit job against byrd. He proved he had the warriors mentality and in his prime (lewis-williams) he was a fearsome fighting machine but unfortunately injuries robbed us of what could have been a great heavyweight career. Luckily for wlad he was great enough to fill the void.

    Vitali had a serious injury against Byrd and had to stop fighting. He would have won, and it was proved by Wlad twice.

    Against Lewis Vitali would have won, but the doctor stopped it against Klitschko's demands. If the fighter wants to continue, let him fight! Thus, Klitschko never lost in a true way.

    No all it proved was wlad beat byrd twice.

    We have no idea who would have won had the fight carried on, likely vitali would have been blinded.

    So yes, he lost twice.

    No proof Vitali would have been blinded. And Byrd would have never beat Vitali without the injury. Byrd is not the same class as Vitali.

    He lost 0 times without injury

    Obviously there's no proof. Because the doctor made the decision he was unable to continue. There's no proof of anything. The fight got stopped. End of.

    Again we gave no idea if byrd would have won without the injury. When do you believe the injury occured?

    Vitali has quit once and been stopped once. That's 2 losses however you wanna spin it.
