We'll see come November, but right now Slappy has the better wins. However, Froch is what 32/33 and still has a few more prime years left, and I could see him beating Ward, Kessler again, and even moving up and beating anyone at LHW which IMO is where he should be anyway. He's not the best SMW as long as Bute is around, and I think he rolls ALL the LHWs until BUTE moves up.
I give up. Froch's last win was against a 42-year-old with 13 defeats. He has lost 90% of his big fights.
This is another calzaghe hate thread. As of right now there's no debate as to calzaghe being the choice here. Simply from one fight. Calzaghe W Kessler, Kessler W Froch. Kessler was also in his prime and unbeaten when he lost a fairly wide decision to Joe. also, joe has a legit W over current 175 champ and ageless wonder bernard hopkins. Ward has a very similar, yet less entertaining, style to joe and it's hard to envision any other outcome than a Ward win over the cobra. So, after this year carl will have 2 of what joe never had, a loss.
Calzaghe - Hopkins, Prime Kesslar. Bika, Sheika, Woodhall, Reid, Eubank and Lacy Froch - Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Johnson and Abraham Froch is on a great run but still behing Joe, Expect Froch to win on the poll votes becuase people are blinded by froch's current run, If you look deeper into his fights you will see Calzaghe's resume is still better
i think calzaghes best ever win was v prime kessler.....and froch best performance was against prime kessler....so on results, at the minute, id have to say joe cal edges it..i also think in head to head joe wins..but im a bigger fan of froch and wouldnt be surprised if his achievements end up outsrtipping joes. his anywhere anytime attitude is one that joe didnt really have.
it is calzaghe. but a lot of posters on esb don't know what they are talking about so they'll give it to froch. cos he is "under-rated" apparently.
yeah i will concede that the kessler cal beat was much the better, thats why i think it was his best ever win. i do still think kessler wastn far from his prime when froch fought him although i perhaps should have worded my post more accurately...
I'll go with Calzaghe. Eubank was far more dangerous than any opponent Froch has fought. Prime Kessler is better than Pascal, Abraham or a shot Taylor or shot Johnson and far more dangerous than Dirrell. Brewer was more dangerous than any Froch opponent, too, just look what he did to Echols (who gave prime Hopkins so much hell). And Lacy was a dangerous puncher, too. And Mitchell a dangerous puncher. All genuine full super-middles, not blown-up like Taylor or Abraham. Then we have Hopkins, too, who went on to school Pascal.
Calzaghe also fought a prime Reid, who went on to be robbed against Ottke. And Woodhall, who was dominating a prime Beyer after ring-rusty start, and Sheika, who just beat Johnson. Although I rate Brian Magee over Mark Delaney.
Calzaghes depth at this moment in time is just a nod above Froch. Zaghe's biggest wins were against Hopkins, Eubank and Kessler, he performed well in all three bouts. Froch's biggest wins are over Abraham, Taylor, and Pascal, these three fighters arent nearly as good as Hopkins, Eubank or Kessler That being said, due to Froch's consistency at the top level (beating Dirrel and Johnson), if Froch somehow manages to beat Ward in the S6 final, he will have leapfrogged over Calzaghes resume. And if Froch wins a title at LHW then its a no brainer
you could make an argument that he drew both of them fights though. both estremly close and the kessler fight was away from home with a very loud danish crowd cheering kessler for every shot landed. carl has fought 6 world class opponents and not one has dominated him. he has been competitive with all of them and he beat abraham more convinsingly than ward and dirrell. froch has a better record than calzaghe imo.
