Jack Leow formulated the perfect plan for building up to this fight. First Pavlik fought a big, strong, undefeated fighter in an over the weight limit 10 rounder. Now Pavlik will have a 5 week camp where he does all his sparring against southpaws. After that he'll fight southpaw Cunningham at 168. This is another fight scheduled for 10 rounds.

Cunningham has racked up 16 straight wins against guys with losing records. However, when he fights at that level Cunningham looks like a stone cold killer. It will be interesting to see what happens when Cunningham steps up about 7 or 8 levels all at once!

After this comes a full 8 week camp for the Bute fight.

Now I will point out a couple more examples of how pathetic the boxing media really is when they develop an agenda against a certain fighter. I recently read an article on a "reputable" web site where the writer claimed that Cunningham spent his whole career at middleweight. Nonsense! He fought one fought at middleweight. The rest of his bouts took place between super middle and cruiserweight. Clearly, the writer did not respect the facts enough to even glance at box rec, let alone do some real research.

I recently read another article on yet another "respectable" web site where the writer said several inaccurate things about Pavlik/Lopez. After that he said Cunningham is way better than Lopez, so we should expect some surprises. Bull****! Styles make fights, and based on what I've seen, Cunningham is way to simple and predictable to handle Lopez. If we were looking at a Lopez/Cunningham fight, I would pick Lopez by 7th or 8th round TKO. It was pretty obvious to me that the writer did not even watch a few seconds of tape, let alone do any thoughtful analysis.

Anyway, Pavlik is fighting Cunningham because he is a big strong southpaw who will work cheap enough to fit into the Shobox budget limitations. Clearly, no one on Team Pavlik thinks this is a "legacy" fight. It's an opportunity to conduct a southpaw camp, and then beat up a southpaw on international television.

In spite of some bull**** in the media, Jack Leow developed the right plan for working Kelly into a fight with Lucian Bute. Leow's plan optimizes Kelly's chances. He's doing a great job of strategic thinking.

Over the Hill? Dude is 29 yrs old.

Never anything special? Kelly KO'd JT, who has never been stopped, Then beats him in a 12 rd UD, (Which IMO, Both Were Gun shy thats why it went 12) KO'd Miranda, Who has never been stopped. Kelly Was one of the most exciting fighters to watch because of his 1-2 KO Power he has and never stops moving forward and is always throwing.

Wasn't it at one time Boxing mags said he was the savior to boxing?

This is BUTE's Toughest Fight, Regardless if its not the 2007 version of pavlik. Pavlik can take punches and :D! He always has. I See BUTE getting reallllllllllllll Pissed off during the fight because its not gonna be easy for either fighter.

Prediction- Eventually Kellys punches are gonna start going threw BUTEs Block, and its gonna be a 11th rd stoppage.

Pavlik can bang so it could be interesting. it is a seemingly better test than Butes last couple fights.

I really don't see pavlik winning this fight in a hundred years.
Bute has just as much range as pavlik but is much faster and
more unpredictable with his punches. He has more skill and will
impress more than pavlik to the judges no matter where the fight
    is held.

    Bute by UD.

Who cares what these people say on ESB.Most of them cant even wipe there own ass, being called in to eat dinner.

Pavlik vs Bute is a real good matchup(fight),i just wish it was in a neutral venue.

There will be stipulations to fighting in Montreal. Neutral ref. One American judge, one Canadian judge, and one neutral judge. Hopefully that screw up the negotiations.

Bute's had American referees for his last 5 fights in Montreal / Quebec + they wanted the fight to be in A.C. so the 1 US, 1 Can & 1 neutral judge should be a formality.

I think Team Pavlik WANTED Montreal. In the early articles and interviews these guys stumbled all over each other while trying to put the fight in the other man's venue. The money is in Montreal, and should Pavlik win, the victory would be just that much sweeter.

Kelly has fought everywhere from Oklahoma to 10 times in Vegas, to AC, Youngstown, Memphis, Connecticut, Anahiem California, et, et. I do not think the Venue is all that important to him.

The venue imo will depend on the $$ demands of both fighters. Bute said he is willing to lose money to fight in the U.S. but I guess there will be a limit is is not willing to cross....if both sides agree they want the biggest pay out it will have to be in MTL. I just hope it's not...

Hope this happens. Pavlik's one of the few true warriors in the modern game who'll fight anyone

no one ever questioned pavliks mental resolve or warrior mentality. however, at this stage in his life he has little chance against bute and almost no chance in montreal. his only hope is in the us as he can still win a decision.

same for VK against adamek. if the fight were in germany, adamek would have no hope. if it goes to the cards in poland, he has a shot as anything can happen.

    VK knows this.

that's why it wont even be close.

Venue should never be an issue when all parties are respected. If I was Team Bute, I'd even agree to 3 American judges on top of the American referee which is an automatic nowadays in Montreal.

All details are already agreed. They are just waiting for Pavlik to take care of business on August 6th. :good

I just thought it was great the way they practically argued over venue, but each fighter argued for the other man's venue. That's something you sure as hell don't see very often.
