I'd agree with that. perhaps not the best, but still not someone who just anyone could beat.

I didn't say Hopkins fought a Heavy weight you ****ing dumb ass. I presented you with a what if comparison. For Robinson to face Marciano, would be like Hopkins a middleweight facing the best heavyweight available. Something that Roy didn't do, he chose the weakest opposition available, even though he had better options he couldn't use the lame " I don't have any competition in my weight class" excuse. And how does mentioning Hopkins make me a fan of his??? even if I was what difference does it make??

Not as much from me. I said well before the Ruiz fight that Jones was running away from Hopkins.. and, oh yeah, Tarver too.

so we're supposed to be convinced that Jones did not make history as a middleweight champ who became a heavyweight champ, or we're just supposed to give him less credit for doing it.

Less credit cuz it was a horrible opponent, What I'm saying is that it should'nt be made to seem a s such a great accomplishment. This doesn't prove greatness. Can we agree with that? Is it history??? yes. Is it a great accomplishment?? Hell ****ing no!!!!

Didn't Hopkins lose to Jones? Either way, look at your poll... the people have spoken.. the only people who are voting No are hating on Jones for one reason or another. The man moved up considerable weight and still be at VERY LEAST a high ranked Contender at very most A Champion of the Heavyweight Division.

Well.. how much credit do you feel we "should" give him. Please explain to us in detail just how much credit he should be given.

Didn't Hopkins beat the hell out of Jones in the rematch??? What's ur point. Never said Roy wasn't good, just saying this accomplishment is grossly overaxagerated. And agreeing with me doesn't mean we're hating it just means a diefferent point of view. He moved up in weight but The only advantage that his opponente had against him was nullified by the Ref.

Of course he should get full credit. Stupid question. Ruiz wasn't a dominating HW Champ but he did post some nice wins in his career. Roy outboxed him easily. :bart

Of course he deserves credit, if it was so easy, than many more boxers would have done it, especially in the current watered down era. Mike Tyson mainly beat a bunch of bums, an old semi-retired Larry Holmes, and Michael Spinks, which was a good win, but Spinks himself had come up from light heavyweight.

I would disagree with that :nono He'd be a top 10 contender like he was in his prime. He was never THE champ just a beltholder.

It should be considered a "wow that was nice" moment. Not a "Holy ****, did you see that???? Roy is the greatest boxer of this era he beat the almighty John Ruiz!!!!!!!!!!!" get it?

    Credit for the win.

Zero credit for going after the weakest of 4 champs.
