Not bad yet, but he's starting to decline mentally. It's sad and confusing how these great defensive fighters have problems, but it's definitely there.

Anyway, I still think he'll kick Ortiz's ass.

what makes you say that....he's always stumbled over his words though. He's never really been a great talker in interviews.

I didn't see it. It sounded like that after the Mosley fight when he was talking to Merchant. When he did his post fight press con he sounded normal.

He's not slurring, it's the quality of his voice. That's frequently the first thing to change. He's getting that slightly vacant look in his eyes, too. Not surprising, really, but I hate to see it.

He sounds a little sharper and present here, just two years ago:

I noticed it too. His voice is more nasally and not as clear. It's not huge, but it was one of the first things I thought right away.

Lampley a troll? Dude's one of the most solid posters on the general.

For whatever reason, people get defensive over those who mention or think they've noticed an athlete declining in any way, shape, or form. Even in basketball, baseball, football, etc. On another forum, fans posted clips of LeBron slowing down this season in his speed, athleticism, and explosiveness....and LeBron fans and Heat fans got real defensive and just laughed. On a baseball forum I was reading, some fans got pissed at somebody saying Ichiro is on the downside of his career. A couple years ago, somebody started a thread about SSM's speech declining, and boxing fans too got defensive and people said he always talked that way and that nothing has changed.

It's boxing ffs...speech changes for some. The changes aren't huge at first, but the voice becomes more nasally and not as clear.

Solid response. I can see that a lot of thought went into that post. You've addressed each one of my points and have successfully changed my views and made me fully reconsider what I wrote :good
