Why do people compare old time fighters to modern day fighters when they. . .

. . .are obviously inferior.
When you look at the old time footage of so called greats when they are lunging at each other accross the ring with no skill whatsoever yet people will say oh they would beat fighters from the modern era its stupid.pre modern era boxing was glorified pub fighting

 

And people will state that harry greb was this and that yet there is not one shred of footage of him fighting,rose tinted glasses all round

 

Or the fact that they will have records of 100 and odd wins but you look at their records and the fact is the fighters they beat would never get sanctioned to fight these days because they where just out and out mis matches,if you take all the no hopers out of their records and they would be ordinary

 

its the truth,its like when ali won the title from liston then cleared out the division with ease it was clear for all to see he was the best heavyweight the world had seen and took boxing to a whole new level,yet say it as it is and all you will hear is joe louis this and that.compare the level of competition between the 2. 2 ton tony gallento, harry thomas,jack roper,al mccoy etc etc,these where all title defenses against fighters who all had losses in the double fiigures the standard was out and out ****. Joe louis was a great fighter but things need to be put into perspective.drop sonny liston into that era and the landscape changes

 

listen lad your the one whos thick as ****,i dont rate calzaghe anywhere near the top 50 i was getting a pull off you and i reeled you in big time.

I don't really agree with all your points. But I do agree with that everyone thinks that just because they fought a certain number of years ago they would wipe the floor with modern day fighters.
