Thanks for all the advice and the welcome boys. My trainer is a good trainer he isn't just chucking me in to be used for sparring, I just was seeking more advice coz I figured there would be a lot of good trainers on this forum, I love boxing and am always willing to learn more. My main problem was I was training with this other really good trainer at the gym getting ready for another fight but he couldn't get to the gym anymore because of work commitments. This gym is the most conveinient for me coz it is open late so I can get there after work and is close to home. Thanks again for all the advice Im going to use it, looking forward to sparring tonight. cheers boys
Good work mate and i think you will fit in nicely at ESB :good Let us know how you go sparing this slick kid, all the best and remember to keep calm and dont show im any respect to him, stick with what you do best!! Take care mate and good luck tonight!!
whos taller? obviously that will determine how u should tackle this guy. be easier for u if u taller. circle away from his power side, mix it up wen its safe to. dont get predictable. depending on what abilities u have. u should try and time him since he faster. u already seemed to piked up a bit on wat he does. so look for a pattern or suck him into committing to a specific shot and capitilise. this way u can catch him unsuspecting and u wont b telegraphing ur shots too much. if u getting overwhelmed, jab and get urself outta range... could save u a beating. good luck.
just in relation to it. Tarver brought Green onto him, Green tried to box- stick and move and counter - not really his go. Tarver just controlled centre ring, waited for Green to come onto him and countered. Also stuck a good jab using his reach. It was an interesting game plan from Green. He used simliar against Floros but Tarver was too smart. There is always this thought that a puncher should pressure the boxer. I think that is wrong, it just plays into the boxers hands. Other than the jab the boxer will counter, so they want the puncher to come to then. Example is Mundine-Green.
Green shouldve pressured Tarver and fought the Glen Johnson type of fight. Give Tarver time and space and he will use his skills and reach all day, which is what he did - Green needed to take them away and make it a fight, the only round he done this he nearly KO'd Tarver. Barry Michael was saying this all fight, perhaps someone shouldve taken his advice and passed it onto Danny.
Danny Green take someones boxing skills away? is this the same Danny Green that was schooled by Marcus Beyer? LOL compare Beyer to Tarver, then think to yourself Beyer was able to out fox Dannyboy because Dannys got a brain the size of a pea. He is easy to work out. He tried to get in close and Tarver pushes him back out, watch the clip. Dannys not a CW he doesnt have the strength of a natrual CW , he is thrown around like a rag doll by any top 10 CW contender. Watch Tarver throwing him around like one and this is a 42yr old man lol Barry just talks sht, Barry said Tarver was weight drain oh dannys got him, he is tired blah blah, two rounds later Dannys in Disney Land! Barry smokes that much **** its not funny! I hate the commentators they have, they are bias pigs, we need neutral commentators because not everyone who buys the show wants to hear this fckn one sided sht, some people do actually root for the away team lol fckn idiots **** me off with this commentating, Barry talks about himself half the fckn time lol , oh when i won this or when i fougth that, fckn shut up Barry we pay to watch theese guys fight not hear about what you did 30 yrs ago lol
Hey boys I sparred him last night, he is about 3 inch's taller than me theres not much of him just lean and mean.. he hit's like a ****ing truck though. I used the advice I could remember such as moving to the right and throwing combo's. He has fast hands but isn't very accurate but my defense is probably my best attribute I covered up good but could feel the force of his shots on my arms gloves. I tagged him good a few times when I threw 1, 2 hook. We only sparred 2 rounds then alternated with other sparring partners. He bullied me round most of the time coz I was wary of his power, definitley the hardest puncher I have been in with and he loads up all his shots with bad intentions. Suprisingly he was not to hard to hit but he had me going backwards most of the time. I felt a bit buzzed afterwards coz when I covered up he slammed me on the back of the head a couple times. It felt more like a fight than a sparring session, I'm hoping to do better against him next time coz if it was a fight he would have won coz I was going backwards and covering up to much. thanks again for the advice.
since he taller should try keep this medium range where u should have added advantage of being able to retract ur punches quicker (if ur arms are shorter then his). if he head hunting while u on the back foot, being the shorter man try change levels and go to the body obviously w8 till he has committed to a shot.
If he isnt hard to hit, he will 100% fall for feints... Feint him, then drop your combo, and spin out away from his power... Change your feints, dont be predicatable. If he charges, pivot off your lead foot to change your angle, he'll fly straight past you, , or an even easier one is to dip down and throw a straight right to the gut... that ALWAYS worked for me.
good thing to try against this bloke nxt time, is to "spoil" , get in face and stay there, i mean so use are basicly bumpin heads (chin in at all times), u said ur defence was solid, well this will take away his power and if he is loading up this is where u will catch him out, but give him no room stay in his face working the body and head with hooks and uppercuts, it wont be the prettiest sparring session but u will take this blokes fight right away from him
