floyds a heck of a fighter- hate or love him. the only way i see him beat is by another great fighter, or an especially large fighter with range, like williams, who is now shot- but **** - styles make fights- they really do- and floyds style is like the leonard, roy , ali bloodline man- slick, fast, smart. he s that plus he s more defensive than the others. those others lost too- but they lost their first losses to great fighters who brought either an uncanny strenght, size, speed , length to the game.

floyds style isnt dependant on speed like the other greats either- he s smart and will age well. for me- ortiz gets whooped. and even pac- who i thought was even money a year ago or two - around after cotto, his skills and speed wont age as well as floyds- who like hopkins has the smarts, and style that will serve well late should he want to.

that being said- its all bull**** once they step into the ring- where a knock to anyones jaw can change everything.

victor does not have THE BRAIN to beat floyd he will get confused and
frustrated with floyd inside the ring.

victor will fight with heart and passion thinking this is his BIG CHANCE

I'm trying to find the best word to describe Ortiz in this video. He looks surprised that he is 'on this level'. He looks somewhat in awe of Mayweather. He looks intimidated also.

I know this is all bull****, and it happened weeks back, and the added pressure with being on TV and to look good...but it was like he was having to try to convince himself he could beat Mayweather.

I'm sure this will change now that he will be in training camp, etc.

 

finally saw it....they say ortiz has nothing to lose, but this could be a make or break fight for a guy his age

he wins, he is a legend
he losses but puts up a great fight....he comes away as a legit top-level ww
he gets completely embarrassed and outclassed (which i think would just shatter his confidence, especially the way floyd can outclass you if he is having a good night)...he is fighting on wednesday nights in front of 500 people

 

One of the reasons why Mayweather is so good is his preparation, Nate Jones said it best: Floyd was prepared and in shape within 4 days of camp for Mosley. Mayweather is already prepared as to the gameplan and he knows what he has to do.

What was telling for me was Ortiz saying he has no idea how to beat Mayweather yet because he's not in training camp yet!

Floyd UD or late TKO, although it's gonna be interesting seeing him fight a pressure fighter.

Second time Ortiz has said when asked how he'll beat him 'I don't know', he doesn't have a gameplan but he will pressure, walk through fire and leave it all on the line like he did against Berto. Mayweather will have better connection percentage but Ortiz will bring it. Mayweather played a few mind games there, interrupting Ortiz to talk about Max's Pradas, saying he didn't hear Ortiz because he wasn't paying attention.

It was funny when Ortiz said I'm going to beat you like when Chavez beat uhhhh uhhh and Floyd had to remind him 'Roger'

 

Vic is a smart guy but he didn't perform well in this at all.

When Mayweather said his token '41 have tried'... why didn't Ortiz bring up the fact that Berto was also undefeated and that he was the one to lay down the blueprint on beating him

Because Floyd is a 5 time world champ in 5 or 6 weight divisions and Berto was a vacant WBC Welterweight Champ?

Because Floyd has been a #1 Lb for Lb before and Berto hasn't?



The only similarity Berto and Floyd had was the undefeated record and nothing more. Now that Berto's 0 has gone, he no longer have anything in common with Floyd.
